When I was asked by my good friend Marta to write an article for her beloved local paper, my hands trembled. I wanted to write about a country, the love of which I have recently rediscovered, and I wanted to write about how powerful we have been made today as individuals. I thought that these were two separate concepts, but as I sat down to outline what I wanted to say I realized that they don’t have to be; in truth, they tie together like shoelaces. I wanted to be able to discuss these ideas with people and then I realized this could be the perfect forum, to use today’s gift of instantaneous connection to start a conversation.
