After receiving crude and cold successive words from Zyon Oulixeus Arvanni, Lory Arguzas was force to accompany the tyrant Duke because if not, her head would be separated from her neck in no time.
After an hour of a roller-coaster-like-ride on his black horse while she was tied tightly, she found herself sitting inside his office receiving another suspicious and intense gaze from his deep blue eyes.
‘It’s okay Lory, you are a smart woman. You already read this novel. This is only a piece of cake. You can outsmart this handsome ungentle man.’ Lory’s inner self muttered.
Zyon Oulixeus Arvanni frowned at her before he leaned his back on his chair looking like any minute he would devour her.
“If I am not convinced by your reasons I shall execute you on the spot.” Zyon muttered in his deep and scary voice.
‘F-ck this!’ She cursed in her head.
“Duke, I told you I have an amnesia, I can’t even remember what I’ve done to you!!” She yelled.
“Are you yelling, at me?” Zyon responded, his forehead started to have crease and his gaze became sharper and darker.
“Ah… No, I’m not…I’m sorry if I look like I’m yelling at you, like I’m super-duper sorry about that… But like I said, I have an amnesia, Duke.” She answered in a whispering tone.
“…Super-duper?” Zyon mumbled what seems to be a foreign language in his ears, “What do you mean?”
‘Ah! I said too much he might think I’m crazy!’ Lory thought helplessly.
“Super-duper… Like more than the deepest, or more than the best anyone could give,” she explained.
“You scam me and now you won’t take responsibility. You think your super-duper apology can solve this?” He muttered angrily holding tightly the handle of his sword.
“Hold on, wait, what?! Scam?! Did I do that? To you?! Duke that’s impossible! You’re freaking genius! How could I scam you?!” She said not able to process everything that he had said.
“So are you implying that my words are not true?” Zyon replied almost standing up and on the verge of pulling his sword from its scabbard.
‘Oh no! I need to pull myself out from this mess! Sh-t! I didn’t know this character that I possessed is the most unfortunate and the stupidest character. Ahhh! I don’t have any idea how this character scammed the Duke but I need to save myself!!’ Her emotions declared inside her.
“Duke wait! Wait, wait, wait… We can talk about this right? Like how much do I owe you?” She asked hoping to lessen the fire between them. But it didn’t.
“Can you pay for One Billion Gold” He questioned while holding his temper too tight being careful not to snap and just execute her instead.
‘What?! One billion gold?!’ Lory exclaimed to herself in disbelief.
Her soul almost went out from her body upon hearing the amount.
“Even if you sell your soul and body you cannot pay fully!” Zyon fumed in anger.
‘He’s right! How did this character commit such grievous crime?! Please Author!! Let me out of here this instance!’ Her inner self screamed in frustration.
After a minute, Lory sighed in defeat.
“…But could I at least try that method?” Lory muttered followed by her nervous smile.
“And to whom would you sell them?” He asked, irritated.
“…To you?” She mumbled as she lowered her head.
A few crude words were spoken by his lips before he responded her.
“I don’t have any desire to have you,” he said as he glared coldly at her.
‘Ah… I figured you would say that,’ she responded in her mind.
“Wait… Let me go home first—
“You don’t have a home anymore, I found out your hiding spot and forfeited it. Your property cannot even reach a single drop of the amount you took from me.” He uttered not cutting his gaze from her.
“What?! But that’s my home! How could you do that?!...Duke,” Lory muttered making sure the end of her sentence has honorific because if there’s none, she’s afraid that it would only add more fuel to the fire.
“Well, if you didn’t scam me, you wouldn’t have any problems right now. Your life would be in peace, and I would have my peace of mind by not meeting you.” He replied icily at her.
‘Ahh! I can’t even remember everything about this character I’m stuck with!! Wait… Did something like this happened in the novel?!’ She thought.
Lory frowned at him as she met his gaze.
‘First, I would be much happier by not meeting you too you-dark-ungentle-man creature! Second, I need to survive and pay him. But how can I pay him?!’
“…I can work for my debt under your roof, Duke.” She suggested.
He was silent for a moment.
‘Please just go with the flow! Even if you’re a villain in this novel you should at least give me a chance!’
Lory bit her lower lip in agitation.
“I don’t need extra person to live under my roof. My servants are enough to do all the house chores.” The Duke answered, “Now, should I just end you here?”
Lory paled and her breathes became heavy.
“Duke, please! Please give me a chance to live! This is the only way I could possibly pay you! I don’t remember anything so I can’t retrieve the money! Please…”
Her tears started to pour down like rain in front of him.
“Please, I want to live.” Lorry pleads in trembling lips.
“You know… There are a lot of people who died in my hands with the same line you just used to me. I won’t fall for that. In the first place, you should have never mess with me.” Zyon responded with his usual blank expression. “Why would I let you live?” He added while wearing his evil smirk.
‘Ah, he is really cruel…I hate this man.’ Lory whispered inside her heart.
“Duke, if I die like this, no one would even bury me properly, no one would even remember me, no one would pray for my soul or even know that I existed. Duke, I live alone. I am alone. I don’t want to die alone.” She muttered, sobbing.
“I’ll just execute someone with you, so you wouldn’t feel alone,” Zyon replied before he chuckled.
“Don’t you get it?! Duke, I want to have a family! I want to be love and to love!! I don’t want to just disappear without trace of being alive!” She yelled in desperation.
Instead of a serious response from him, Lory only receive a menacing and insulting laugh from the tyrant Duke. She was so embarrassed but then, her shame was carried away by the anger she felt.
“You badly want to get married, I see. But with your debt to me, it’s going to be rough for you. Of course, since I am merciful, I won’t execute you, for now.” He muttered with his evil smile.
‘And you call yourself merciful?!’ She commented in her thoughts.
“You will be assigned to the laundry. Go out now before I change my mind and just have your head instead,” he muttered, this time, when he said his words, he’s not already looking at her.
She blinks fast just to stop another tear from falling.
“Gosh, thank you, Duke… And, I truly understand that you might change your mind if I don’t get out immediately, but with all due respect, I am tied on this chair so…”
He glared at her before he stands.
‘Oh c’mon! How’s that even my fault?!’ Her soul whines from inside of her.
The Duke took out his sword from its scabbard and aim at her throat.
“Remember, if you try to run away, I shall find you. Wherever you go, even if it’s at the end of the world, I will find you. So I’m warning you, do not underestimate me,” he said in a deadliest tone.
“Yes, yes! I promise I won’t run away! I swear!” Lory responded, scared that he might really change his mind any minute and just end her.
With just a swing of his sword, the rope tying her was cut cleanly.
“Go out,” he muttered before he turned his back from her.
She immediately run and exited his office. Panting, she closed the door with a calculated force, afraid that even an irritating sound would make him change his mind. However, due to the unexpected experience she had, she remained standing near the door like a fool with a pale face and sweat all over her forehead.
“That was… I thought I’m going to die, again,” she mumbled in a shaky voice while trembling in fear.
