Chapter 6

Cleo’s POV I groaned as I heard the alarm clock buzzing on my bedside table. I reached for it and switched it off. It is a lie that when you do something for a long time, you get used to it. I will never get used to waking up. I've hated it since I was a child, and I still do. "Only if I could make money in my sleep, ahh." I made my bed and prepared for work. "Good morning,Zane." I was greeted with a smile as I walked into the reception. "Morning, Cleo. Mr. Cosmo is back; we’re going to continue with that meeting at half past eight." She said it cheerfully. I noticed the sparkle in her face when she mentioned Mr. Cosmo. "Office affair." I thought to myself and laughed at the drama we might experience. "Thank you for letting me know." I said, laughing and walking to the elevator. "Hold the lift." A hoarse, sexy, but yet scary, familiar voice said it, making my heart hitch for some reason. I couldn’t even look back to the person who called out to me, who actually told me to wait for him without even asking, as I recognised the voice as belonging to the boss himself. I got inside and placed my pointing finger on the open button, and a minute later, a caramel-skinned, well-built guy with a perfectly aligned jawline and blond hair entered the lift. I felt like I was under a certain spell, and strangely, I was in full control of it. " Sure." He said it, seemingly unimpressed. I was drawn out of this stupid spell that I was in. "Sure?" I kept repeating it to myself, and because I didn’t hear that, I ended up saying it out loud. "What do you prefer, Miss?" He arrogantly said that, looking at me. I was now pissed, and I don’t know the reason. I wanted to tell him to hell with his arrogance, but then he was my boss. I closed my eyes and breathed in and out. "A thank you would have been better, sir." I calmly said it sarcastically, looking back at him. There was something in his eyes; he was not a man you could mess with, but I also found his eyes very attractive. He softly laughed, and the sound of his laughter set a bomb off in my heart; it was weird. "Thank you." He said it roughly but assuringly. At that moment, the elevator opened. He scratched his arm, allowing me to go out first. And I was surprised considering how unfriendly he had been when he got inside the elevator. I looked up at him; he was a bit taller than me, and he was not looking at me. As I was about to step out, he quickly went out before I could. "You were too slow, my lady." He winked at me. He gracefully walked to his office, and I couldn’t help but call out at him. He may be my boss, but he is still very arrogant, and I will let him know that he can never fire me for that. "You just aren’t a gentleman." He stopped dead in his tracks, and I cat-walked to my office like it was no one’s business. I could feel his eyes on me, which made it very difficult for me to walk. I was so happy when I finally got inside the office that I loudly exhaled with a huge smile on my face. "Cleo, what’s so funny?" I asked myself, and I just shook my head. He is a rude i***t. My inner self was blunted. "Not just rude, but very arrogant." But you think he looks good. "He does look good; it’s merely a fact." I said so as I was taking my seat. Cosmo’s POV My phone hasn’t stopped beeping since morning, and when I pulled up at work, I decided to open these texts from an unknown number, only to find out that they were naked pictures of this daddy’s girl, whom I am supposed to marry. "These people got me into trouble." I just deleted all of them, inserted my phone into a pocket, and walked to the building. I am met by the always-smiling Zane and some girl standing in front of the elevator. "Hold the lift." I ordered as I walked to the front desk. I took the iPad and went inside the elevator. When I got inside, I was met by a kind of petite lady who was not that petite; she was a bit curvy for a slender girl. She was intensely looking at me; weirdly, she wasn’t drooling over me as all the women normally do when they meet me for the first time. "Sure." I said it without any hint of emotion in my voice or face. "Sure?" She bluntly whispered, thanks to my vampire listening skills. I heard it loud and clear. I took this opportunity to show her my dominance and probably get the reaction I wanted from her. "What do you prefer, miss?" I asked, facing her, and I have to say, she is gorgeous, with those big brown eyes being the cherry on top. She is not the type I normally go for, though. There was neither lust swirling in her eyeballs nor blush in her face. "Playing the tough game, I see." I said to myself. "A thank you would have been better, sir." I felt like she was mocking me, and I couldn’t help but laugh. She is stubborn, and I will show her. When she called out to me as I was walking to my office, I turned around to look at her, and her back was facing me. She was perfectly swaying her hips and round, not big, booty left and right like a model. With every step she took, I felt like my cold heart was overflowing with blood and anger. She wasn’t playing a tough game, but she was being herself. A tough girl? Ahh, there’s no such thing. You've probably finally found your match; something inside of me told me so. I laughed loudly at the thought. "A girl? Never. She is probably the type who likes it tough and hard; it’s too bad I don’t have time for her."
