Unseen and Unheard
Lena woke up slowly, the cool sheets and the unfamiliar scent of the room still lingering in the air. Her head felt foggy as she tried to piece together the events of the previous night. She couldn’t remember exactly how she’d ended up in Romeo’s bed, but there she was, and a sense of unease curled in her stomach.
She stretched, feeling the tension in her body. As she sat up, she realized she was alone in the room. She quickly glanced around, hoping that the awkwardness of the previous night wouldn’t carry over.
With a sigh, Lena grabbed her clothes and went into the bathroom, hoping to shake off the discomfort.
⸻
The hot water of the shower cascaded over her skin, soothing the lingering tension in her muscles. She closed her eyes, trying to forget the strange situation. The door to the bathroom had been left ajar, but she didn’t notice—it didn’t cross her mind at all as she bathed.
⸻
Meanwhile, Romeo had returned from the kitchen, walking down the hallway. As he passed the bathroom, he happened to glance inside. His breath caught in his throat. There she was Lena, naked, with water running over her smooth skin. He could see her legs, her hips, the curve of her thighs, everything. His pulse quickened.
Romeo stood frozen for a moment, his mind spinning. The sight of her was enough to make him forget everything. He wanted to step forward, to touch her, but the thought of crossing that line, especially when she seemed so unaware of his presence, stopped him. He gritted his teeth, forcing himself to look away, and retreated from the door, trying to control the rush of desire that flooded him.
⸻
Lena, completely unaware that Romeo had seen her, finished her shower, quickly drying off and stepping into her clothes. The towel around her body barely stayed in place as she dressed, but she was too distracted by her racing thoughts to care.
When she left the bathroom, feeling slightly more composed, she found Romeo standing in the hallway. His eyes flicked to hers, a brief moment of silent tension passing between them. Lena cleared her throat awkwardly.
“Thanks for last night,” she said, her voice low.
Romeo only nodded, his expression unreadable. But as she moved to pass him, her eyes briefly fell on him. His boxer shorts were slightly… pricked.
Lena’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly looked away, her face flushing a deep red. She tried to compose herself, but the tension between them was undeniable.
Without another word, she hurried toward the door, eager to escape the uncomfortable scene.
⸻
The taxi ride to work felt longer than usual, but she didn’t mind. It gave her time to think. Her fiancé was coming back from the airport later that day, and even though they hadn’t seen each other in almost a year, it felt… distant. She wasn’t sure what she was expecting, but she couldn’t shake the thoughts of Romeo out of her mind.
⸻
After arriving at work, Lena threw herself into her routine, trying to push everything else aside. Her day passed in a blur of emails, meetings, and phone calls, but it was Romeo’s question from the morning that kept echoing in her thoughts.
“Will you be coming to the gym later?” he had asked, his voice casual, but the underlying tension had been palpable.
“I don’t know yet,” she had replied, not sure why she even said that. The gym was the last thing on her mind. But in some way, it felt like a connection a reason to see him again.
⸻
After work, she went home, trying to focus on her fiancé, who was back from the airport. Their conversations were awkward at first, but she tried to get back into the rhythm of things, even though her mind kept drifting.
It wasn’t until the evening, when they were relaxing at home, that things started to feel off. Her fiancé leaned closer, his hand brushing against her leg.
Lena froze. The touch felt forced, unnatural. She tried to pull away, but he didn’t let her. Instead, his grip tightened, and his lips pressed against her neck.
“I missed you, Lena,” he murmured, his voice deep with longing.
The closeness of his body, the pressure of his touch, made her stomach twist. She wasn’t ready for this not yet. Her mind raced as she tried to push him away, but he only moved closer, his hands on her.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, a frown furrowing his brow. “Let me in.”
Lena’s heart pounded in her chest as panic set in. She wasn’t ready. She wasn’t sure if she ever would be.
The situation quickly escalated. He wasn’t backing off. His hands were moving too aggressively, too insistently, and she could feel her body freezing in response.
“Stop!” she cried, her voice shaking with fear. She tried to push him off, but he didn’t let go.
“Lena, don’t fight this,” he growled, tightening his grip on her arms.
Desperate, she grabbed for her phone, her hands trembling as she searched for the only person she could think to call.
Romeo.
⸻
Her fiancé’s grip was suffocating, but Lena’s fingers hovered above the dial, the phone’s ringing tone louder than ever in her ear. Just as the call began to connect, he shifted, his arm brushed roughly past hers, and the phone slipped from her trembling hands.
It hit the floor with a sharp thud, bouncing once before sliding under the couch.
Lena froze.
Her heart slammed against her ribs as she stared at the empty space where the phone had disappeared. She didn’t know what to do next.
She was trapped.
