[wellsy mansion]
Hailey!! Are you sleeping?"
I heard my brother’s voice filtering through the door.
"You can come in," I muttered, pushing myself up from my lazy, lounging position to sit upright on the bed.
"Oh, I woke my princess up," he said softly, walking into the room with a warm smile.
It was Dean. Honestly, Dean is easily the most handsome out of all my brothers. He is actually more handsome than Kai and Kelvin put together! Back when I was a teenager, I remember getting so angry about it.
We used to fight, and I would literally ask Mom, “Why is Dean so pretty then me? Why did he take all the good looks for himself?!”
Mom and Dad would just laugh and tease us, saying it was because Dean was simply greedy in the womb.
He has these striking grey eyes, just like Dad's, but Dean's seem to have an extra shimmer to them. He also has a sharp, perfectly pointed nose that gives him a genuinely regal look.
"Hey, brother," I said, stretching my hands out toward him for a hug.
"Oh, baby, I missed you," he said, stepping over and wrapping his arms around me.
Dean always treats me like a baby, just like everyone else in this house does. It is honestly one of the main reasons why I secretly hate being the last born!
"I missed you too, Papi," I replied, using the nickname I call him sometimes. As we separated, I stared up into his sharp grey eyes.
"How was work today?" I asked.
"It was fine, baby," he replied smoothly.
"Hope you had fun in school today," Dean added, leaning casually against my desk.
"Yeah, not really," I replied, shaking my head. "We had only one lecture today. After that, I went with Mom to the mall for Kai’s wedding prep."
"Oh? So how was it?"
"Very tiring, Papi! You already know how Mom is," I sighed, dramatic as always.
Dean laughed softly. "Yeah, well, thank God it's all done. Come on, go downstairs—dinner is ready," he said, stepping closer to plant a warm kiss on my cheek before playfully dragging me off the bed.
I stumbled onto my feet but immediately held his hand with a pout. "Carry me, Papi!"
Dean rolled his eyes with a smile and turned his back to me. I grinned, immediately climbing onto his back.
He caught my legs securely as he playfully muttered, "Hailey, my back will soon break. You're heavy, baby."
I hugged his neck tightly before I decided to playfully smack his shoulder.
"Hey, I'm gonna drop you if you keep doing that, Hailey!" he threatened, though he didn't loosen his grip on me at all.
"I just love your shoulder, Papi! Don't blame me," I giggled.
As we made our way toward the door, I leaned in closer to his ear.
"Then... I will get you that perfume."
"Thank you, brother!" I cheered, completely victorious.
"Hey, you two! Drop the brat down this moment!" Kelvin shouted from the dining table. Everyone was already sitting down, waiting for dinner to start.
"Dean, drop Hailey, please. You are spoiling her," my sister, Davana, added, rolling her eyes in deep annoyance.
"Well, it's none of your business,"
Dean retorted smoothly, walking right past them. He carried me all the way around the long table before finally dropping me off at my seat.
As soon as my feet hit the floor, I spotted my dad coming down the stairs.
A wide smile instantly plastered across my face. I had missed my father so much. He had been away traveling for two days, and he had just gotten back today.
"Daddy!" I shouted happily.
He immediately looked up from his phone, a matching smile breaking across his face.
