The Letter.

Ivy's POV. "So I heard some new kids made an appearance today?" My uncle who was a Sheriff spoke at family dinner. "Yeah." I replied. "I also heard they are not really good children. They were withdrawn from their previous school for something they did" my ears perked up at that. "And you believe them?" I scoffed shaking my head. "I thought you are a sheriff uncle" I replied defensively. "I'm only saying you should stay clear of such kids, the rumors might actually be true. Crudetown is actually a small town" he said firmly. "I'm not going to be all buddy buddy with them Uncle Jay. I'm only saying you shouldn't believe everything you hear" I replied back. I suddenly didn't have any appetite anymore and I excused myself to go back to my room. I didn't know why I was defending the mysterious guys but I also didn't expect my uncle to actually believe something like that. I had not seen or heard from tall sexy god for the rest of the week, but news always spread in school walls. Some had said he didn't leave here in Crudetown and was always making journey's tho and fro, others said he was a psycho and had to go the hospital for some days of the week. The one that intrigued me the most was the ones that said he didn't offer all the subjects in school and only came for some few subjects. However I had tried to stop thinking about him, I had tried to escape him but it was just as though he was stuck to my head. My nightmares had increased again. They had stopped few years ago when my parents were alive but some how since moving to Crudetown, they had even taken a turn for the worse. Stepping into the shower, I let my mind run over as I tried to wash away the images of the fire out of my head. My dreams had stopped feeling like dreams a long time ago but these days it felt more like a reality. With each dream they became more vivid, where sometimes I would wake up coughing as if the smoke was still filling my lungs. My parents were worried at that time but they figured it was just something caused from stress. However I had woken up one day after I dozed off in class, they knew something was wrong when my teacher told them I was screaming and smelling like I just walked out from a burning building. Once word got around that the newly hired sheriffs daughter was having episodes that somehow connected to the towns fires and attacks, my parents decided we should leave. They however didn't make it with us. My father was a sheriff before he died and my mother a nurse, they were both so loving. They didn't think I was crazy for having such dreams, I was taken to several hospitals but the doctors didn't understand why I was having such dreams, they didn't understand why I was waking up with smoke in my lungs or my body smelling like fire. Everyone in my town began watching me as news spread around. My father before he died reached out to his brother who was also a sheriff in Crudetown and that was how the move happened. The dreams however stopped for some time, for the first few weeks we moved here, I didn't dream, I didn't wake up screaming or coughing, I had thought Crudetown was the answer, it somehow brought tears to my eyes to remember my parents were no longer with me to recognize this progress but I was wrong. The dreams started again. The same scenario, the same fire, the same burning building, the same boy. I never knew who the guy was. I didn't want to believe that it was when Zindy came around my dreams changed but it was the truth. My dreams had always being about fire since they started three years but ever since I picked Zindy up, a guy had been involved. He was very beautiful and breathtaking, I knew that because I remember thinking that way in my dreams but once I woke up, I could hardly remember his face. It always made me so mad and sometimes I'd force myself to sleep just so I could see him again. It never worked though. The dreams always came whenever they wanted to. My alarm for school rang again making me jump from my thoughts. In frustration I began getting ready. I was going on my own today because Maxwell had to leave early to hit the gym and from there he would join me in school. I finished on time putting on a skinny black Jean and a white crop tank top, my boots on my feet. It felt nice to walk and take in the cool Crudetown air. It was different from my previous town, because they didn't have a cafe just a walk down from my house, or a library where I mostly bury myself in books, or a park where I usually just go to relax but it had been nice so far. My uncle had gotten us a house on the cooler side of town so that was that. I got to school in record time and found Betty and Asher waiting at our usual spot, opposite Asher's car. "Hey guys" I greeted, once again stopping them from an argument. It was as though they planned these things before they came just to rile themselves up. "Hey bestie. Asher was being a d**k again" she replied glaring at Asher after offering me a forced smile. "I'm not being a jerk, she's just jealous I didn't invite her over to my house because again I had a girl over. It's not my fault that Crudetown girls are hot and they seemed to love me----" Betty slapped his head again making him whine out. "Ow" "First off, I'm not jealous alright, I'm only saying you should cut down on your sleeping around you t**t, second of all, have you seen me? You look like a puddle of dirt when we stand together" Betty bit back making Asher let out a fake gasp. I laughed and shook my head before walking passed them hearing their steps following me. They were always like this, I was pretty sure they didn't realize their feelings for each other, but who was I to talk. Betty quickly caught up with me having gotten fed up with fighting with Asher. "I heard tall sexy god was a dropout" Betty whispered in my ear. "You too?" I asked scoffing at her. "Me too? What do you mean?" "I mean, I get that you are Betty news and nothing gets past you but you should know better than to listen to these rumors" I scolded her. "Look they are not rumors Ivy, when have I ever told you something that wasn't true or didn't have a little bit of truth in it?" She asked. "That---" I suddenly didn't remember any because she had always had most of her facts correct. "Well all I'm saying is it might not be true" "What if it is?" She bit back. "Well what if it isn't?" I retorted. She huffed in return, not saying anything else. I didn't know why I was taking this personal but it was somehow offensive the way people seemed to spread rumors they knew nothing about concerning other people. I had been in the receiving end of such rumors and I hated how it felt. I knew tall sexy god might look tough and like he didn't care but it still didn't sit well with me. Come to think of it. What was even his name? "Do you know his name?" I asked Betty. "Who?" "You know... tall sexy god?" I asked biting my tongue for even calling him that. "Well I don't. That's strange, his name should be echoed around these halls by now" she replied looking around and I was sure she was scouting for someone she could ask. I didn't let her though, I dragged her by her hand as we made it to class. Class had started in earnest but I kept zoning out which was something I never did. I could not help but think about what Betty said and what my uncle had said. I didn't want to believe it because I didn't but what if it was true, what if indeed Tall sexy god was actually a dropout like people said. Well if he was a dropout, I bet it wasn't easy coming over to start again? I didn't like that I was pulled to anything involving him but once I got curious about something I went through extra length to find it. The class was over and I stood up to park my things but then I stopped, my ears straining to hear what the girls beside me were speaking about. "I heard Hayden and his boys are throwing a party later tonight" the first girl who I now knew as Astrid spoke up. "You mean the three hotties?" Her friend asked, a grin so wide on her face. "Hayden is the taller one right?" "Hell yeah. We need to go shopping" she cooed before they stood up and left. I didn't know if he was the Hayden or it was one of his friends but the name sounded very much like his, plus they said taller one. I tasted the name on my tongue and it sounded sultry. I pushed such thoughts away from my mind before joining Betty. "Did you hear?" Betty said into my ear. "What now Betty?" "They are throwing a party tonight!" "Who is?" I asked, even though I knew her answer. "Tall sexy god and his boys" she replied like the answer was obvious of which it was but... "And?" I asked throwing my bag over my shoulder and walking out the class. "And? Are you really asking me that? Of course we are going" she said. "Look Betty, I don't think I can tonight--" "None of that Ivy, none of that. This is not Pintone. I know you went through a lot there but this is your chance to leave a new life" she muttered firmly. "It's not that Betty--" "Then what?" She asked stomping her feet on the ground like a child. I didn't know how to tell her I didn't want to go because of tall sexy god who I think his name was Hayden. I was already too intrigued by him at this point, if I happened to go any closer I was afraid of the outcome, but of course I couldn't say that, I couldn't say no to her smoky eyes and pouty lips either so I agreed. "Fine. I guess we can go" "f**k yeah. Let's show them how it's done." She gushed. "I'll come to your house in the next two hours with some outfits cause I know yours are dead. Love you" she kissed my forehead before running out through the doors leaving me smiling out but fidgeting inside. I got swamped up in homework that I didn't know two hours had rolled around until Betty came strolling in through my door. "The hell are you doing?" She screeched out. "What does it look like Betty" I replied not taking my eyes off my assignment. "You ought to be scouting for outfits Ivy" she scolded plumping her behind on my bed. "When I have you? Hell no! Besides you said it yourself, my outfits are dead anyway" I reminded her, my eyes still drooling over my assignment. "Okay well, I need a little help" "You don't need my help Betty, you've got it all covered" I replied absentmindedly. "Ivy!" "What!" I yelled back before shutting the book closed and staring up at her through my little mirror by the wall opposite my table. "f**k fine" "Thank you" she mused grinning widely. The next few hours was Betty looking for imaginary outfit in my ' dead closet '. She kept on whining how I needed a change of clothes and how I needed all my clothes burnt but she still kept on searching. After she was tired without me saying a single word, she huffed angrily and moved to her own bag by the edge of the bed. She pulled out various outfits, my eyes bulging out of my sockets when I saw the price tags on some of these fits. They were very beautiful too. After thorough search, she threw a yellow gown to my face making me whine before the gown dropped to my lap. I picked it up and surveyed it, my face morphing into a frown when I didn't understand the styling of the gown. "Put it on" she ordered. "Put what on? This is a pant Betty, I'm not putting this s**t on my body" I complained. "This is the biggest clothes I had in there, so except you want to be putting on actual pants then you'll do as I say. Besides you have a gorgeous body and please trust me and just put damn dress on" she replied frustration evident on her beautiful face. I really wanted to laugh. "Betty-" "Just please" she pleaded cutting me off. I huffed before going into my bathroom and actually putting it on and I was actually impressed. The dress was very much beautiful and it was classy too, it was a one hand sleeveless dress, the stomach part cut out showing little of my stomach and it hugged my body stopping some inches above my knee. It looked really good on me, I was actually heavier on the hips and bum which Betty always praised me about but I actually appreciated my shape for the first time in a long time in this dress. I walked out to show Betty and she let out a gasp, her hands going to cover her mouth as she instructed me to spin. I did with laughter coming out of both our mouths. She asked me to wear heels but I refused, that was one thing I would never agree too, wearing heels. I opted for my boots instead and even Betty agreed that they looked good. After fixing our makeup, we were set to leave. Getting to my front door, about to lock it Betty called out my name. "Ivy?" "Yeah?" I turned to her still fixing my hair on our show glass window. She passed a red envelope to me, no name or address written on it. With my heart beating in my chest, I pried it open. The card inside was white, it looked fancy and quite expensive but I didn't dwell on it too much. It's content actually sent a shiver through me making me freeze and my heart thump louder. I couldn't help but think how much I knew who the person was. "When you come to the party which I know you will, find me at the pool house." -H. Who the f**k was this guy?.
