Ivy's POV.
It had been three days since my last conversation with Hayden. Three days since I kind of sold myself to the handsome devil.
Okay maybe I was overreacting but I had never done something like that before, or being in such kind of situation before. And by situation I meant for a handsome guy, the most attractive guy in the whole of Bringston and possibly the whole of Crudetown to demand to paint me.
I know I wasn't ugly, but I wasn't also the most beautiful girl in Crudetown. My face wasn't oval like some of the goddesses of Bringston high school, who had high cheekbones and smaller noses.
My face was circular, my nose wasn't so small and I wasn't on the skinny side. I wasn't overly fat but I had thicker thighs and quite the round boobs. My bum was also round which sometimes made some boys stare long and hard at me when i walked pass.
So all in all I was quite an average girl.
I had not been able to take Friday off my mind. The last day I saw Hayden in the canteen.
Today was Monday again and I found myself searching for him like a creep. He had said he would text me the time and day but I had not received nothing. Another reason why I had being on edge.
Any little ding from my phone had me jumping around and running towards my phone only to find something different. I hated that I was nervous and a little bit of excited all at once. Just like Betty had said, I was going to be starting a whole new life now and I didn't know what to do with it.
"Hey muse" Betty slurred towards me. She had been calling me muse ever since that day with a smirk on her face.
"You know my name Betty" I huffed walking away from her and towards her car. I was in no mood to walk today.
"Durhh, yes I do and that's Hayden's Muse" she laughed as if she said something funny while chasing after me.
The sun was scorching today and it was making the whole atmosphere hot and sticky, another thing I had come to hate Crudetown for. We had made it to Betty's car and I plopped into the passengers seat while Betty scurried to the driver's seat.
The drive was silent until Betty blurted out. "Are you going to be n***d?"
I groaned out my forehead taking the heat of her stupid question while she barked out laughing. "Sorry I'm just asking. You know you have a banging body, Hayden is not going to be able to resist".
"Betty for the love of waffles I'm not going to seduce him. I don't even know if he'll call me back like he said he would" I huffed sadly. My stomach knotted as I voiced the real reason for my uneasiness that I didn't know I had until now.
I squirmed on my sit at the silence of the car now.
"Wait what?" Betty asked.
I simply shrugged turning away from her and looking out the window. I didn't even understand where that came from. Days ago I didn't even want to do it and now I was getting sad that there was a possibility that Hayden wasn't going to call back.
"C'mon Ivs you can't be thinking he isn't interested anymore are you?"
"I mean. Maybe he was trying to see how easy it was for me for you know to give in or something" I replied a little frail.
"There you go again" I looked at her confused on what she was talking about. "You and that stupid brain of yours" she clarified. I gave a mock gasp before hitting her arm on the wheel.
"What! I'm being serious. You think really stupid sometimes" she chuckled at the face I gave her.
"Well how do you explain this then. He hasn't called or texted in four days Betty. I didn't take him for someone that likes to waste time".
"Or maybe he's even the one nervous to text you" I scoffed, her idea sounding ludicrous in the ear.
"Have you seen him?" I asked her. "He isn't nervous for anything." I continued before huffing and turning away again.
We finally reached my house and I saw Maxwell's car packed up in the garage.
"Well I don't think he has changed his mind. We'll just have to wait and see which amongst us is correct now" Betty said as she marched to join me in our front lawn.
I didn't need to insert my key seeing as Max was home so I simply twisted the knob and walked in.
"Oi for f**k sakes put a shirt on!" I barked out to a shirtless Max dancing on our kitchen.
He jumped after hearing my voice pulling the pods out of his ears and cussing under his breath. "f**k you scared me. Hi Beth" he breathed out.
"Hi hot Maxy" Betty slurred like the seductress she was.
I didn't answer any of them and made a beeline for my room.
"Hey! Uncle asked us to go down to his house later" Maxwell yelled after me.
I rolled my eyes at him before jumping on my bed and letting out a groan.
I wasn't in the slightest mood in going for any family dinner tonight.
Betty joined me in plopping down on the bed and letting out a groan also.
I raised my head to her, holding my head under my palm that was resting on my elbow.
"I feel like I haven't seen Asher at all" I said.
She hummed, her eyes shut tight and her lips pressed in a tight line. "He has a girlfriend now" she mumbled.
"What?" I screeched before pulling to seat on my bum, my bed making it's usual creaking sound.
"Yeah" Betty whispered, not even opening her eyes to me.
"Why I'm I just hearing this?" I asked completely bewildered.
"Well it wasn't that Important, they'll break up soon anyway" she mumured sounding so certain.
My eyes brows rose at that, my heart skipping at what she just insinuated without knowing.
I smirked before sitting criss cross turning to her. "And you know that how?" She must have registered what she said because suddenly her eyes were snapping wide opened and she was sitting up as well.
"I -- I mean-- It's Asher after all" she shrugged like it was no big deal. I gave her a pointed look, a lopsided smile dancing on my lips. "What?" She huffed before jumping up from the bed.
"Nothing" I shrugged watching her walk into my bathroom. Just then Zindy walked in making a smile crept up my face.
He jumped to me immediately pushing his head into my palm and I guess it was for it daily petting which I didn't get to do earlier this morning.
"Hi Zindy" I cooed making him growl quietly, the sound that I had soon become quite accustomed to and loved hearing.
"Did you have a good day?" "I bet you did mhmm" he only snuggled into my neck more making me laugh.
It was silent between us before I continued. "I'm in a bit of a pickle Zindy" I huffed quietly. He raised his head as if he understood what I was saying and purred quietly.
I continued talking anyway. "I got a job... Or not really a job but you know something I could do that would give me loads of money but----" "I'm not really excited cos of the money you know? I guess I just feel different that I'm asked to do something out of the ordinary Ivy's routine... I get to serve as a muse to a very hot and attractive painter. Sounds exciting right" I asked Zindy scratching his fur softly.
"The only downside of it is that I don't know if he's still going to call me----"
"He's is Ivy stop saying nonsense" Betty yelled from the bathroom.
I laughed, I had forgotten she was even there for a second. "I'm still waiting Betty. Today will soon be over" I yelled back to her.
She only huffed making me laugh again. I put Zindy down and went over to my school bag to do some homework in order to distract myself.
I picked up my science textbook and began scanning through in search for answers. I heard the door to my bathroom door open before Betty's voice. "I think I'm going to crash here tonight" I raised my head to her.
"Why? Is anything wrong?" I asked confused by the tone of her voice.
"Not really. My house is lonely plus I think I'm going to have cramps later today" she huffed before lying on the bed again.
"Okay Betty. I'll be here with you" I commiserated. She hummed before dozing off.
I got back to my assignment blocking out every noise both from Zindy's scurffle on the rug and my own thoughts.
Hayden's face flashed through my mind again and I groaned before hitting my head in frustration on my reading table. I picked up my phone to see it was a little past five and there was still no message or calls.
Maybe he didn't know how to get my number? But if he could get my address and even send down a letter, then getting a phone number wasn't so hard right?.
Not much people had my number anyway. Only Betty, Asher and two other girls in class that I had group presentation with. So maybe it was actually difficult.
I laughed at my own absurdity before placing the phone back on my desk and facing it backwards so I don't get to see the screen.
It didn't work as I kept glancing from time to time over to it so I huffed and placed the phone into my drawer, that seemed to work because I soon forgot about the phone and about Hayden and the impending message for some few hours.
It was well dark when I finished my homework and Maxwell had come to call Betty and I down for dinner. Our visit to our uncle's house had been postponed because there seemed to have been a case that required his attention.
Maxwell, Betty and I all ate in silence until Betty and Maxwell started chatting about useless things. I wasn't in the mood as I kept shifting back to Hayden and the message. I didn't understand why I was so bothered by it or by the fact that he hadn't still sent anything.
I finished eating and ran to my bedroom leaving Maxwell and Betty to clear the plates.
I was ready to sleep hopefully I wouldn't have nightmares today but I knew it was unlikely. I pulled my phone from the drawer and placed it on my nightstand, the screen lighting up and my heart skipped at the notification of a message on my screen.
My heart began beating and my hand shook over the notification I was yet to open.
I stared long and hard at it, debating whether to open it or not. I wasn't ready to be disappointed and what if it was him saying he wasn't interested in me anymore?.
I was staring so long at the message, I didn't hear when Betty came in until she booed into my ear making me jump in fright.
"What are you doing?" She asked me. I stretched the phone to her and her eyes widened slightly at the notification too. She moved to open it but I stopped her.
"Wait!" She stared at me. "What if he isn't the one?" I asked, my heart beating in my chest.
"Well we wouldn't know until we found out would we?" She replied, nervous like I was too.
I nodded, giving her the go ahead and she nodded as well.
She double tapped on it and the message pulled up my heart thumping faster and my eyes widened slightly in surprise.
