The Party.

Hayden's POV. "Man your house is dope as f**k" boy one complemented. I didn't pay him any mind as I strolled down into my room where they knew not to follow me. I had never been a fan of crowds, I normally secluded myself in parties like this but it was hard to do so since I always attracted people to me. This time was no different, the party was not for another hour but the house was already full. Zac and Alex had requested that a party be thrown to get to know the school better and they picked my house because it was more spacious and more on the brighter side of town. I didn't mind, I only requested that no one entered my room or the pool house. I had several rooms in my house, some had been locked since I moved, not even bothering to open them to find out what was inside, however these two rooms had soon become very important to me. The pool house didn't just house a pool, it housed other things like a gym, a painting room, and a little parlor that I had soon come to love. These rooms were not connected to the main building and one could only get access through the pool house. It had been a week since we relocated to Crudetown and I hated the town already. I missed home or what was left of it. I had lost my home since I was twelve, no place was home to me anymore. Coming to Crudetown was good, despite it being a compulsory move, it was the beginning of something good, or that was what I had been telling myself. Zack and Alex where the only people that reminded me of home, of what use to be my life before it all went down the drain. It was always difficult thinking about these things, but my mind never seemed to rest. It was always spinning, always reeling with one thing or the other. It was as though my mind had a body of it's own, when I think I could be remotely happy, my mind goes to a sad memory and that happiness is wiped away from me. I could not remember the last time I felt happy, the last time I felt even a twinge of joy in me, sometimes it was as if I was a mere shell walking this Earth waiting for the day I would drop, waiting for something or someone to take me away. My life was in constant darkness all the time. The only time I felt different was when I saw her - I didn't know what it was, I didn't understand the pull I had towards her in the hallway but it was there. Seeing her wide eyes staring up at me, a look completely different from the l**t filled ones of the other girls. Her eyes felt both familiar and strange at the same time, she was staring at me as if she knew me from somewhere, as if she could read me. No one could, no one had even tried to, but she did. I didn't understand why I picked on her at the hallway. In truth she wasn't standing on the road, she wasn't even remotely close, I just hated that she wasn't falling at my feet like every other girl there. Everyone I came close to shifted for me to pass but she stood where she was, she stood and waited for me to pass her. I hated the intrigue that set in, I hated that I wondered what she was and that was why I was rude to her. The fluster of her cheeks made it all worth it. She was beautiful but even more beautiful up close. It was the type of beauty that she had, she didn't know how beautiful she was, she didn't know she could command men to her feet with just the bat of her eyelids. That intrigued me even further. She also felt awfully familiar. I shook my head, stopping my mind from thinking about the unknown girl and walked outside into the garden. It was an outdoor party so Alex and Zac were still setting things up. "Hey man" Alex greeted still trying to fix light. He was groaning and struggling and I knew it was my cue to intervene. He couldn't do s**t for himself sometimes. I pushed him away and fixed the light and before seconds I was done. "You are too smart for your own good man. Take all the girls in Bringston with that s**t". I shoved his hand away before walking over to Zac, he was instructing the DJ on types of music to play. "Man this party's gonna be lit" Zac commented rubbing his hands together. Zac was the life of every party I had ever being on. He loved parties, he loved planning them. Alex was the women's man, he had the looks so girls were bound to follow him, while me, I was just me. I was neither here nor there. "Are you all done?" I asked coolly. I didn't really care about the party but it meant a lot to them so I pretended to do so. "Yeah. People are still coming you know that right?. The place is gonna be packed, choosing your house was the best option." He grinned before wrapping his arm around my shoulders. "Hope you have people to clean after you?" I asked trying and failing to shove his hands away. He knew how I felt about unexpected physical contact but the jerk didn't care, I didn't also spiral because he was the one. "Yeah yeah. I know how much of a clean freak you are". He mused. "Are you going to attend, or you'll hide away as usual?". "I never hide away". "Of course". "I'm serious d**k--" "I have information on the girl". That seemed to shut me up as my brows furrowed. I hated the way my heart skipped as i heard about her. I hated it. "Really?" I asked, my famous bored face on despite me enthusiastic about knowing. "Yeah. Her name is Ivy Durian. She's in her second year in senior school, 19 years, lives with her brother". Zac finished watching me carefully. I didn't give anything away. Alex and Zac were my best friends but Zac was more like a brother to me. We had been through so much together. He knew me very well. I know it came as a shock to him when I had told him I wanted to know about her but he didn't question me further. He always listened when I spoke and trusted me to make the right decisions. He never also failed to hit my head so hard when I did something bad. "And you know these things how?" I asked. "Well if you'd left your house, you'd see how little this town indeed was. Everyone knew everyone around here". He replied, his arms folded over his chest. Well that was not good. Everyone knowing everyone around here wasn't good for me, wasn't good for the boys. But that was a worry for another day. "She is also new in this town. Don't know yet where she is coming from but it's said to be one of the neighboring cities" Zac continued when I remained silent. I hummed deeping my hands into my sweat pockets as I thought. My mind always went back to her, it was infuriating. "Do you think she'll come for the party?" He asked. "She will. She's too inquisitive for her own good" I answered nonchalantly. "And you know this how?" He fired back. My eyes widened slightly, not knowing where my answer came from, I spoke as though I knew her before which was impossible. I remember my wolf growling a little when we saw her but I didn't pay any mind to it. My wolf was quite a w***e, it always growled when he saw beautiful women. "She just looked like it" I shrugged turning and walking away not giving Zac the opportunity to read more meaning into it. "Do you want me to send her a message?" He yelled making me stop. A thought just came to me making me turn back to stride towards him. "Yes infact. Get the card. I'll text you what I want you to write" I spewled out. He smirked knowing fully well how mysterious I liked to play. I quickly sent the text to him and he went to do what I requested. People had started flooding the garden now as it was getting quite dark. I marched inside to have some time to myself before changing into a different outfit and coming down I walked to my room that was thrice bigger than my actual room in my hometown. There was too much space for just one person but I quite liked it. I could stay hours in here if I didn't want to see anyone which was most days. The view was nice too. I scanned through my outfits not deciding on what to wear quickly. I knew I would just settle for a shirt and trouser at the end of the day but I didn't know which. I tried to play games to pass time hoping that I wouldn't be disturbed by anyone. My mind went back to her again. I was sure by now Zac would have delivered my message, he would have used his wolf sprint since he had to be fast. Ivy. Her name suited her, it was short and simple but still confusing. I wondered if the name was a short form of another or it was the only name. I tasted the name in my tongue again and I hated that I liked the way it sounded. I hated everything that had to do with her but I was still intrigued. I still wanted to check that pull I had towards her days back. I wanted to test that spark I felt when our eyes met, when my green ones met her brown orbs. I wanted to check if I was hallucinating or if what I felt was real. I was no stranger to women and men alike. I was easy on the face too so I had my own fair share, but Ivy felt different. I didn't know how or why and I didn't know if I wanted to find out but I knew I wanted to see her. I glanced at the wooden clock on my light stand and an hour had passed into the party. My room was very high away from the house and the walls were soundproofed but I watched what was happening from my room TV that was connected to my camera in the outside garden. Everywhere was packed and I could spot Zac and Alex having fun and interacting with people. I smirked, liking that they seemed to have adapted quickly, they weren't like me. I quickly got dressed and got down, I locked my room and the pool house before making my way downstairs to the garden. The music was loud but when I entered, plenty heads turned to me. I didn't pay them any mind, I simply stood by the door, my eyes scanning the room in search of who I needed to see. I could see different girls making their way to me but I didn't turn to look at them, I couldn't, not when she was here. Not when she was staring at me, the same look in her eyes.
