GABRIEL'S DARK DESIRE

1234 Words
The veteran security chief felt the heavy, unnatural tension in the air, knowing with absolute certainty that there was a massive, dangerous piece of the puzzle he was being denied. But his years of unquestioning loyalty to the Vance family won over his personal curiosity. He slowly, deliberately holstered his weapon and took a step back. "My apologies, Sir. What are your orders regarding the cleaner?" Chen muttered, bowing his head stiffly. Gabriel looked back at Nerie, his dark eyes glinting with a possessive determination that mirrored the cold depths of the ocean itself. He offered her a small, predatory smile, a silent promise that her fight had only just begun. "Call the private transport vehicle to the rear loading dock," Gabriel commanded Chen, his eyes never leaving hers. "We are transferring her to my personal estate outside the city for private "rehabilitation". She will be placed under my direct, exclusive supervision from this moment forward. See to it immediately." Chen nodded and stepped out to make the call. In the quiet room, Nerie let out a breath, her hands tightening beneath the sheets. She was entering the lion's den, but she was ready. She can feel that the war for the deep sea had officially moved to land. ----------------------- The Mercedes-Benz pulled through the massive wrought-iron gates of Gabriel’s private coastal estate just as the first light of dawn began to bleed across the horizon. The compound sat on a secluded cliff side overlooking the East China Sea, far from the prying eyes of the Shanghai financial district. It was a fortress of glass, steel, and reinforced concrete, heavily patrolled by private security and equipped with its own independent power grid. Nerie sat in the backseat, flanked by Chen, while Gabriel sat silently in the front passenger seat. Throughout the entire drive, no one had spoken a word. While Nerie kept her gaze fixed on the window, watching the dark outlines of the ocean waves crashing against the rocks below the cliff. She could feel the proximity of the water, a desperate pull humming in her blood, but she knew she couldn't run yet. Her mission wasn't finished. The car stopped in the subterranean garage beneath the main villa. "Chen, clear the lower pavilion and ensure the medical staff leaves the diagnostic equipment in the residential wing. I will escort her myself" Gabriel ordered as he stepped out of the car. Chen hesitated, his eyes darting to Nerie, who was now stepping out of the car. Her movements were slow, but the raw frailty she had displayed in the mall was entirely gone. She stood with a quiet, terrifying grace. "Sir, are you sure? If she becomes agitated again.." "It's alright Chen, I can handle her. Do as I said," Gabriel cut him off. Chen bowed and walked toward the security elevator, leaving the two of them alone in the quiet, expanse of the garage. Gabriel turned to face Nerie. The remorse that had gripped him in the hospital room had been completely compartmentalized, locked away in a dark corner of his mind. In its place was the cold, calculating the intellect of a scientist who had just discovered a new element. "You think you can play the victim," Gabriel said, his voice echoing slightly against the concrete. "You chose to come to my city. You chose to break into my building. You are a biological marvel, Nerie And whether you like it or not, you are going to help me understand what lies at the bottom of that trench." Gabriel said. Nerie met his gaze, her ocean eyes entirely devoid of fear. "You think walls can hold a creature that shatters tectonic plates? You think your tiny glass fortress can withstand the weight of the sea?" "We'll find out," Gabriel replied coldly. He gestured toward the secure glass walkway that led into the residential wing. "After you." The apartment Gabriel had prepared for Nerie looked warm and inviting at first glance. It resembled an elegant seaside home, complete with a spacious living area, a small modern kitchen, a cozy dining table, and a bedroom furnished with soft neutral colors. Large glass windows overlooked the endless ocean, allowing golden sunlight to flood the room and making it feel almost peaceful. But the illusion of comfort lasted only a moment. Nerie's heightened senses quickly uncovered what ordinary eyes would never notice. Tiny camera lenses were discreetly embedded in the corners of every room, their dark glass barely visible against the ceiling. Motion sensors were hidden above the doorframes, while silent biometric scanners were built into the flooring, tracking every step she took. Even the apartment's front door was reinforced with heavy steel beneath its polished wooden finish, its electronic locks impossible to open without authorization. It wasn't a home. It was a beautifully furnished cage. Gabriel stood quietly by the entrance, one hand resting on the wall-mounted control panel that managed the apartment's lighting, security system, and surveillance network. His expression remained unreadable as the automatic door slid shut behind them with a soft mechanical click. "The glass is triple-reinforced plexiglass. It can withstand a direct impact from a high-velocity projectile. Don't bother trying to break it to reach the water. The air conditioning is calibrated to monitor the humidity in the room. If your skin requires moisture to regenerate, I will know exactly how much you need." Gabriel explained, his voice devoid of emotion. Neri walked slowly toward the glass wall, her bare feet pressing against the cold, polished floor. She ignored his warnings, her attention entirely focused on the massive expanse of the sea outside. The waves were violent today, churning with a restless fury that perfectly matched the anger boiling inside her heart. "You look at the ocean and see nothing but numbers, energy, and wealth." Nerie said softly, her back turned to him. "You don't understand that the water is alive. It remembers every wound you inflict upon it. The pulse weapon you tried to use... it didn't just kill my kind. It tore a hole in the balance of the world." Nerie added. Gabriel walked up behind her, stopping a few feet away. He looked at the reflection of her pale, flawless skin in the glass. The dark, possessive urge that had seized him in the hospital was stronger now, amplified by the absolute control he believed he held over her environment. "The world is built on consumption, Nerie" Gabriel whisperer. "The strong consume the weak to advance. Your civilization stayed hidden in the dark for thousands of years, doing nothing with the power they possessed. My company can use that energy to reshape human history. If a few of your kind have to die for that progress, it's a small price to pay." Nerie turned around slowly, her eyes locking onto his with an intensity that made Gabriel’s breath hitch. "You speak of progress, but you are nothing but a parasite feeding on a body you don't understand. If you keep drilling into that trench, you will awaken things that even I, cannot control." Gabriel scoffed, though a small flicker of unease rippled through his heart at her words. He stepped backward toward the door. "Rest while you can, Nerie. Tomorrow, my medical team will begin taking blood and tissue samples. We're going to find out exactly what makes you tick." Gabriel said. And the heavy door clicks shut.
