"Why did you leave Mrs Lee?" Asked Scale.
"Don't you get it?" Andexolene asked looking a bit ruffled by his question. "I have nothing to offer. I can't get a job"
"And did she say anything about it to you? "
Andexolene was silent for a while overwhelmed by guilt. "She didn't"
"Then you see, she wasn't even complaining. Andy, Living with Claire will only turn you into a w***e. I bet she made out that point before accepting you, that you work at the club too"
It was accurate, Claire had layed down her rules that Andy had to make her own money inorder to stay and that means following her to do the night jobs. It was not new to Andy, she had lived a disorganized life, muddling with it and it brought her nowhere. But she felt guilty everytime she had to, because of money sell herself away. Life played a game of give and take with her.
"No she didn't" She lied "I told her I'll stay for a while, finding a job. If I don't get one I'll have to go back to my mom"
Scaled laughed "And she believed you?" He probably knew she was lying. He've known her for nine years and from the way she tried to make her voice steady, controlling her eyes, so not to show a hint of dishonesty, her twitching lips, and her interlocking fingers, he knew every word was to beguile him into believing her. "Come on"
"I'm not lying" Her voice quavered slightly and she avoided Scales eyes from the screen of her phone.
"Ok let's let that slide. I sent a friend over to meet you. I had something for you and since he was coming over to town, I gave it to him."
"And what's that?"
"I'll text you the address. Just get ready by two o'clock okay?"
Andy answered quietly "Yeah" She missed him dearly. Being the only one there for her for years, she made him a family. He had being away for three years, striving against want and he made sure he tried to meet up to her financial needs, just the way a father does for a child. Scale never minded giving her his last few bucks, if that would make her smile and stay decent. "When are you coming home?" She inquired her throat packed with sadness, her voice came out raspy.
"You miss me so much don't you?" Scale smiled sipping from the cup of coffee which sat on his table. He watched her nod. "I desire to see you too, but I have six months more before I'll be done here. You can try to be more patient"
"I have no problem actually, so I'll wait"
"That's my girl. All these for our good life in future. And don't worry too much, you'll get a job soon" The comment made her smile. "Just don't be late by two. He's not so patient like me. I'm going off now, duty calls" In an instant he went off and the system resumed playing its melody, jazz.
Andy got on her feet and settled to clean the house. Wiping the floor clean and ridding the furnitures of dusts, which Claire didn't seem to do because she spent more time at hotels, She took a hot shower and headed out of the house.
Their little town was likely old fashioned, with gloomy weather which called for a downpour at intervals. There were old stores alongside the road, with ebony lamp post, arched above the pedestrian walkway. Cheap auto mobiles roamed the streets, in which the owners, dressed in clean and starched outfits, raised their heads up, ego and pride obvious. Owning a car in a small town like Austy, meant you were well off and everyone struggled to be fed with esteem and respect.
The women were dressed in floral dresses or loose pants with jackets on and for a finishing touch a hat which was worn over their flowing hair. Young women dressed normally, anything the fashion world had to offer and Andy had a pant on, almost looking like a ragged jean, but the torn, was a design opening up to her upper thigh. She had a sleeved shirt on, tucked inside the jean and her boots tramped the wet ground. Despite the fact the rain had been playing with the day, the weather was usual and everyone went about their activities.
She arrived at the restaurant and scanned the surrounding looking for a man with similarities as described by Scale in his message. There was no man akin to blonde haired, a small structure and green eyes. Only women and younger girls in communion with their husbands or boyfriend. None blonde.
She heard a voice behind her which she had accustomed herself to on a daily basis and she swivelled around to see a long time friend. A brother and a parent he had being, handling her like a baby sister and a family she never had. Her tears stood at bay and she stood still at the mind-boggling sight before her, not knowing how to conduct herself.
"Scale?" She tried to utter but her voice was gone.
He smiled and opened his arms, and instantly Andy was wrapped in his clutches. The feeling was welcoming and a description of the home she never had.
"Its you. Why didn't you tell me you were coming. You just..... " She was crying against his chest. "You just showed up"
"That's what we call surprises" He pushed her away from him gently and stared into her wet face, with his thumb he wiped her tears. "Aren't you happy I'm here?"
"Of course" she swallowed the lump in her throat. "Of course I'm happy but it was unexpected. You being here after all these years is something I can't comprehend"
Scale laughed and pulled her into his embrace again. "I'm so happy to see you. I missed you dearly."
Scale had the table piled up with delectable meals, and drinks ready to fill Andy to stupour. He poured out stories about his stay in the Old town, the versatility, the modern changes, the diverse races and languages, the social hierarchy and the seats of tourism. After his speech, the was a hiatus and he took the moment to examine her. The changes that had occurred through the years. Her hair had extended, her face had got into a perfect oval shape, her lips were a misture of pink and light orange and her eyes glowed. He remembered her being a thin woman struggling with slight wind for balance, whenever it was going to rain. But now, she had grown into shape, the sculpture of a perfect woman.
"I saw a job offer as a servant, but its out of town and at a big mansion owned by the baron of Nestleton. Well I took the job but princess I don't really wanna stress you out so I made Dave look up another one. He'll get to me soon I say."
"I want it" Andy blurted out before stopping to think. "There's nothing that can stress me out. You know I've been seeking for a job for years, so why will you ever say I will get stressed out. I don't mind it"
Scale smiled picking up his glass and he gulp his drink in one go. "You know I always want what's best for you. I never want you in pains. I don't mind taking all the pain for you"
"Its not like I'm your wife" She smirked biting her lips as she admired his features. His smooth face, brown hair, dark eyes and that voice that seemed hoarse on a direct hearing. His musculanity improved and no woman wouldn't adore him at first sight.
"Who knows if I wanna make you one"
"Come on" Andy laughed. One thing she always knew was that Scale was like a brother to her, nothing more. He never came as a lover and on the long run, he never dared mentioned that. "I'll take the job. And working side by side with you, will only make me feel better"
"Alright, your demands. I'll get us linked up" Scale picked up his fork "Let's eat up, I have much gifts packed up for you. You can come stay with me for the main time before we get the job. I stay in a good hotel"
"Alright I will"
Nearby was Trance who ensconce in a vehicle watching them from the transparent walls of the restaurant. His eyes was dark with animosity and want. He picked up his phone and spoke into it. "She is leaving town with the deceiver. Going to Nestleton I heared" He smirked. "I will Stay with her and detect her every move"
He slipped the phone down, radiating satisfaction, before reclining on the seat. He tapped his fingers on the wheel countinously and immediately the atmosphere grew dark and a shadow like creatures crept out of him, its eyes crimson. Drifting off into the restaurant it found Andys spot and rested on her shadow.
