Alice’s POV
Suddenly, I begin to feel faint and breathless. My chest tightens painfully, and every inhale burns my lungs. My head feels heavy and cloudy, like the world around me is spinning too fast. The screams, the fire, the smoke... everything crashes into me at once.
My knees give out beneath me, and I collapse to the ground, gasping desperately for air.
At first, no one notices me. Everyone is too focused on the burning house and the chaos surrounding it. Then a paramedic rushes toward me and kneels beside me.
“Hello, miss. Are you okay?”
“Help…” I wheeze weakly, clutching at my chest. “I...I can’t breathe…”
“Okay, miss, calm down.” His voice is firm but gentle. “Take small, slow breaths. In… out… that’s it.”
