PUZZLE PIECE 14 GRANTCHESTER MEADOWS A black cat poses, The laughing grasshopper grins, In fields a’painting, The mystery fiddler plays, Melancholy bygone notes. I realised we were getting further away from the centre of town and were heading towards Grantchester. We flew over the churches of St Andrew and St Mary, past houses, buildings, fields of green, indistinct squares, walkways, clumps of trees and deepening shadows, the meandering river floating boats resembling paper hats in white and blue, oars like miniature chop sticks dipping. The grasshopper landed on an open field in the quaint Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester, and my spirit floated off his back.
