THE APPLE OF DISCORD
A play of discord,
Hypnotist in audience,
A poison apple,
He clicks his fingers to see,
A dreadful power unleashed.
The school had set the date for the long-awaited performance of Love Hurts, a Celebration of Valentine’s Day, and the play was due to begin at 7.30pm.
At 7.29pm a loud clicking sound reverberated in the hall like someone snapping their fingers. The sound travelled, winding its way up the hall to the technicians, the audience, the parents, the teachers, and to the actors on the stage and those waiting in the wings. Amelina waited, almost fearing to take a breath as a sense of foreboding gripped the audience while she watched in the darkness from the wings.
