HUMILIATED

“What are you talking about? This car is an automatic, it drove here on its own after I called for it. Are you getting in or not?” Alvin asked and got into the car. Leah who was still hesitating quickly got in because he looked angry and impatient, as if he would really leave her behind. “Leah, it's better not to ask lots of questions in the future. There are lots of things you won't understand about me going forward, and a lot of things that may not make sense to you. But all I promise is that you will be well taken care of.” Alvin added after some thoughts. “Are you into illegal business?” Leah asked slowly, as if picking her words. “No. Do I look like that kind of person? I don't do illegal things, you don't have to worry about that.” Soon, he arrived at a nearby restaurant. It was a four star restaurant and they were already open for business. Some upper class office workers already stopped there to have breakfast on their way to work. Although the restaurant was not five star or that expensive, it was nonetheless a place meant for those who had money. The moment Alvin entered the main door, the fresh aroma of delicious food hit his nostrils, making his stomach growl. Just as he was about to find a comfortable table to sit and call the waiters to serve him, someone blocked his way. He looked up in anger and impatience, only to see a familiar face. It was Lisa, his college friend during his first year, before she alienated him for being broke. He then married Sonya Carter a while later, and his life got even worse than it already was. “Ho! What's a beggar doing at Top Taste?” She asked, laughing at him. The man holding her hand looked at her, seemingly confused. “Do you know him?” “How can I know such a low class beggar? He's just a little gutter rat who doesn't know his place. Do you remember that half scholarship student? The famous errand boy at college? That's him before you.” She said and covered her mouth, laughing. Her companion looked at Alvin with furrowed brows. Alvin was dressed in designer clothes, same with the young girl hiding behind him. How could he be a beggar? “Get out of here immediately. Trash like you is not qualified to breathe in the same air I do, unless you have a death wish. You want to eat at Top Taste? Dream on. Get out immediately before I call the security to throw you out.” The girl shouted, her eyes filled with disdain. “Miss whoever you are, kindly step away from my path. Unlike you, I'm not idle and need to work. You have not changed, still jumping from one bed to another even though your parents are well off.” Alvin replied, delivering a blow where it hurts the most. She immediately tried to slap Alvin but he caught her hand and twisted it. “You, how dare you hurt my girl? Do I look dead to you?” The man shouted, unable to hold back anymore. Lisa's red arm infuriated him. He had not wanted to interfere at first but women always had a way of dragging unsuspecting men into trouble. “Your girl?” Alvin asked and scoffed. His chuckle made the man frown, arousing a bad feeling in him. The other guests also left their food, watching them. If not for Alvin’s designer clothes, some friends would have joined Lisa in dishing out insults to him. But he didn't look like someone that could be easily bullied, making others hold back. Only Lisa who knew him for years could say anything because she knew how broke he was. “You actually call this thing your girl, you must have a thick face, even thicker than mine.” Alvin said and chuckled, pushing Lisa to her boyfriend. “What do you mean by that?” The man asked, narrowing his eyes. “This slut that every rich boy at school ate and ran, it got to your turn, you took her home, treating her like some treasure. That must be the reason she learnt how to bark at people. The last I remember, this sweetheart of yours was having a threesome with the basketball captain and point guard. I was actually surprised but I have to admit she's truly capable, getting the two hottest guys in our college basketball team to f**k her at the same. Lisa, should I tell him how you looked that day in the nurse's office, with the captain in your mouth and the point guard behind you, grunting and sweating, with your flat boobs flapping everywhere?” “You bastard!” The man shouted, swinging a punch at Alvin. Lisa looked at the people around in dismay. She had intended to create a scene and humiliate Alvin to feel good. Unexpectedly, the tables turned on her. Yes, she loved attention. But not this type. Alvin quickly avoided the man's punch and slapped his hand back. “Instead of getting mad at me, tell your slut to control herself. Meanwhile, take her to the hospital to get a check, I heard she loved it raw with the boys.” The man turned to Lisa in dismay. Alvin's words rang a bell in his mind. Indeed, he had always been the one insisting they use a condom, Lisa preferred it caveman style. His heart immediately went cold, and the anger seeped out of his body like a deflated balloon. “You, don't talk nonsense. How dare you slander me?” Lisa shouted, unable to hold back the tears anymore. “Slander? I would have taken everything I saw to the grave. But you just shot yourself in the foot by making me remember who you are. Get out of my way now.” Alvin said and tried to walk past. “You're intentionally humiliating me because I rejected you in college, you beggar. But I didn't expect you were this kind of twisted person.” Lisa shouted red eyes, making a last attempt to salvage her reputation. She already noticed that her boyfriend seemed detached, as if Alvin's word got to him. And losing him was something she couldn't afford. Not now that she had finally found someone powerful enough to give her the lifestyle she wanted. Men always say they don't care about their girl's past. But it's a big fat lie. They do care, way too much. “You came here, accusing my girlfriend without evidence, just to spoil her reputation. As a man, don't you have any honor and shame?” Her boyfriend asked coldly, his eyes glinting with a murderous light. “Are you sure I don't have any evidence?” Alvin asked playfully, pulling closer to him. The security guards arrived at that moment, giving Lisa a beacon of hope, just like a flashlight in a dark well. “Security, throw this beggar out immediately.” She shouted, pointing at Alvin, her chest heaving up and down. “Take one more step towards me, and you will find yourself with broken limbs.” Alvin whispered coldly, making chills run down the spines of the guards.
