Everyone turned to the owner of the voice. It was a middle aged man of about forty years of age. He gasped in horror at the broken tables and chair, shattered glasses and vases, blood smeared on the wall, and even more upsetting—the guards lying on the floor like bags of beans.
Lisa immediately ran to the man.
“Director, it's this piece of trash here. He beat up your men and ruined your restaurant. He even harassed me for no reason.” She shouted, her face twisted with malice.
Some of the diners rolled their eyes or gasped at her shamelessness. While some others simply ignored it, finishing up their meals. Clients who were coming in quickly left in search of other eateries the moment they opened the door and saw the big fight going on. No one loves getting entangled in a problem that doesn't concern them. It was better to avoid trouble than to be nosy and incur unnecessary losses.
The manager turned to Alvin who was holding the crying Leah and frowned. Leah's face had palm prints and blood on it, while she clung to Alvin like he was her life support.
“Manager.” Lisa's boyfriend said, walking forward. The manager’s eyes lit up and he immediately smiled.
“Mr Troy Caulfield, what a pleasure.” The manager said, extending his hands for a hand shake.
“This man here just said lots of demeaning words to my girl. He should be blacklisted from Top Taste.” Troy said calmly.
The director turned to Alvin again, in time to see him roll his eyes nonchalantly. Alvin was dressed in designers, of equally the same quality with Troy's. But his shoes were a bit more expensive.
The girl holding him tightly was dressed in even more expensive outfit, with a diamond necklace adorning her fair neck. She looked like a pampered and spoiled princess, holding Alvin with teary eyes. The director had spent most of his life time around wealthy people, and was conversant with their behavior and mannerism. He could tell the quality of anyone's clothes with just a glance, and he had never been wrong about it.
“Can't you hear my boyfriend? Blacklist these losers immediately and kick them out.” Lisa shouted, making the director turn to her.
“Can you explain what happened to me?” He asked with a smile, treading carefully.
“What explanation do you need? The only explanation you should be giving me is making him kneel before me to apologize, and kick this smelly trash out!” Lisa screeched again, losing all rationality.
The manager barely stopped himself from rolling his eyes and sighed. Kicking Alvin out rashly was something he would never do. His calm composure and appearance aside, the girl beside him was even more outstanding. She looked like a pampered princess who grew up living a sheltered life. He had been in top society long enough to know that this type always came from the richest families, where they were pampered like some goddess. And worse, she looked like she was just beaten up. He would be lucky if her family doesn't come to settle accounts with him.
“Young master, can you please tell me what happened? I want to hear your own side of the story.” The director said with a smile.
“Who are you calling a young master? This famous college beggar that picked trash to survive? Kick him out, or else…” Lisa began again.
“Can you shut your mouth?” Troy snapped, making Lisa surprised. He pushed her away from himself and looked at her in anger. “Your education is wasted on you.”
The truth was that Troy was already fed up with Lisa. She didn't know how to read the room, only continuously screeching and screeching, like she was on a mission to strike everyone deaf.
The director was not someone that can easily be messed with. He was the co-founder of Top Taste, with a chain of restaurants globally. He only temporarily settled here to seek a cure for his ailing wife. He was a business mogul. But Lisa, who doesn't seem to know his background, thought of him as a mere manager who could be easily kicked around. She had embarrassed him a lot. He would have walked out on her if he didn't love her.
The director scoffed coldly, before he turned to Alvin with a smile.
“Please, speak.”
“As you can see, this woman here set off this round of problems. I came in here to eat with my sister, only for her to block me and rain down insults on me. I simply returned the favor and she blew over the top, asking the guards to break my legs with promise of paying them afterwards.” Alvin said with a smile.
The director’s heart skipped a beat as he looked at the guards who made a mess.
“I acted in self defense, and this woman here rushed to my sister while I was busy with your men, and left numerous bruises on her. If you look at my sister's foot, you will see the deep wound this vicious woman left with her stilettos, viciously digging her pointed heels into the delicate leg of a teenager.”
By the time Alvin finished his words, sweat covered the director's back. His men were well trained but Alvin took them all out on his own. A theory immediately formed in his mind. Lisa just referred to him as a college beggar. There were top martial arts family who had a tradition of sending out their teenage sons to fend for themselves and gain life experience. These families were always very powerful, and set up the tradition because the heir is often under the risk of assassination. But if he had survival skills, it would equip him to better protect himself. If Alvin did menial work at school, doesn't it mean he was from one of those families? Seeing as he completed college, he must have returned home after a successful experience. In contrast, his sister probably never left because she was a girl, making her have the demeanor of a pampered princess. If this was indeed the case, the foolish woman before him had created a big mess.
