It had been 4 days since Lilly left, the house seemed lonely so I decided to adventure
Along my journey to shacks the other day, I had noticed a old book store so I was currently heading there.
I was always told books held the best company and that you could simply be anywhere in the world when reading
The little bell above the door dinged as I entered.
It was a cosy little shop, a couple bean bags and a vintage sofa placed in the one corner that seemed to collect a little dust
Shelves lined the walls each one stacked neatly with books organised in alphabetical order
At one wall was a little desk and a chair with lamp. A mug was placed on the desk which held steaming contents.
I wondered where the owner was
Then a little old lady appeared from a door carrying a stack of books. She seemed to be struggling as I guessed the books must've been heavy.
"Here let me help" I said taking a good amount of books out of her grasp
"Oh thank you dear, I didn't hear you come in"
Her voice was sweet and delicate
"It's no problem, where would you like me to put them"
"Just over here" she said gesturing to the little table.
I placed the pile down gently then offered her some more help
"Well if you don't mind dear but you really don't have to, I'm sure a teenager like you has other things to do" she smiled
"No I don't, honestly I don't mind helping" I insisted
"Well In that case, I have to put these books on to the shelf. I've got more in the back room" she said excitedly
"Okay, no problem"
I began picking up the books and placing them on the shelves, spine showing outwards.
After two hours we finished and the last shelf was fully stacked
"Good job hunny" praised the lady
"Thank you" I smiled back
"You have a beautiful accent, where is it from?"
"I'm from up north" I told her
We both sat down on the little sofa sipping away at the tea she just made.
"Oh really, me too. What part?"
And that was the question that I was completely dreading but what real threat was there telling a little old lady?
There was just something about her that made me not want to lie
I simply couldn't
"I'm originally from roseiron" I admitted
A huge smile formed on her face as she nodded her head
"I grew up there"
My facial expression was smiling but inside I was screaming and panicking
"R-really"
"Yes darling. I was evacuated there when I was 6 years old"
"This is a crazy coincidence"
"What did you say your name was again?"
"Rosalie Parker"
"You remind me of someone" she said placing a finger on her lip as she began thinking
This was the reason I left one of my previous schools, someone thought they recognised me so I left.
I thought this was going to be my new home. I thought this was my new beginning
"Who?" I asked
I didn't mean for my voice to sound broken it just happened naturally
I couldn't deny that fact that right now I just wanted to cry, I was way too emotional
"Princess arabella" she said soothingly as she reached a hand out and placed it on the hand that I put on my lap
She knew
It's over
"I've been told..."
"No darling, you are"
I've come so far from my old life and now here I was about to throw it all away because a little old lady figured out my true identity
"I'm sorry" I found myself saying
"It's true isn't it. I knew you ran away but how did you end up here?"
"I made friends along the way"
What was I doing? I was admitting it to her
"I can't believe I've spent the day with a princess. I remember seeing your mother growing up"
She seemed to happy and excited, how could I tell her now that I had to move again
"Who are you staying with?" She asked
"My friend Lilly, we left roseiron together. She's gone back now though, she's visiting family"
"Didn't you want to go back?"
"No I can't, I'm not going back. Being a princess isn't my thing, I'm not cut out for that life"
"You wouldn't have been born in to it if you weren't strong enough"
"I'm not too sure about that"
"I'm sure of it, you will be a great queen one day. When you are ready of course"
We sat in silence for a while and it was only then I realised she hadn't released my hand.
I didn't want her to let go, she comforted me and it's exactly what I needed. Even if I denied it, all I need right now was a family, I've left mine behind.
"Please you can't tell anyone about this, I'll be sent back. I'm going to have to move again" I quickly rushed out
"No,you can trust me. I'm not going to say a word. I'm not going to ruin your life, I simply couldn't. I know that some day you will return and you will return when you are ready" she told me
Could I believe her? She had no reason to lie to me.
"Can you promise me that?"
"With all my heart dear"
"Thank you"
"It's my pleasure"
I truly hoped she stayed true to her word. It's not exactly like I could just move now anyway since Lilly wasn't here.
I will wait until Lilly returns and if by then I feel like I can't trust her then we will have to move again.
I really don't want to move
"You mentioned your friend...Lilly was it? She's gone home, are you staying alone?"
"Yes for a little while I am"
"Then please, let me cook you dinner Friday night"
"I would really like that, if it's not too much of a problem for you"
"No don't be silly. You can come to my house Friday and we can have dinner together although I will warn you my grandson will be there but he's a sweet boy"
"It's fine, I don't mind"
We talked for a little while longer, she was a funny woman. I couldn't help but feel as if I had made another new friend.
