Kira POV
My wolf is incredibly fast and agile. She is leaping and dodging, like she knows these woods. She turns her head to see if our mate is behind us, and he is hot on our tail. My wolf begins to kick even faster to put more distance between us.
There is another clearing up ahead that seems to lead to a lake. I take off in the direction of the lake, but I no longer hear paws behind me. I look all around, and I cannot find my mate.
I can smell cedar wood and vanilla, so I know that he is not far. I am getting ready to take off, when I am tackled from the side. I see a blur of black fur, before I am rolled onto my back.
My mate lets me up and walks over to the edge of the lake. He looks down at the water, before looking back up at me.
