Alex, his parents, and I arrive at the barbecue, just as Ben has finished his speech. The four of us are locating a space to settle in at, when I hear my Dad call my name.
I turn around to find him in the crowd of people enjoying the atmosphere.
He is walking towards me, with a huge smile on his face. "There's my girl! How are you feeling, sweetheart? Does your body hurt at all from the shift?" Dad asks, with concern on his face.
I shake my head no. "I feel great. No pain at all." I answer him. Dad has noticed the mark on my neck, and he smiles proudly.
