When Miles walked into the living room, all he saw at first was the divorce agreement on the coffee table. Kate's name sat in the lower right corner, written in clean, decisive strokes. There was not a trace of hesitation.
At first, he assumed Kate was throwing another tantrum.
Over the past year, she had cried over Carey more than once, but she had never once said the word "divorce." Miles had always thought Anne's kindness still weighed on her and that she could not bear to burn every bridge.
