Lisa's clothes from yesterday were soaked beyond wear due to the rain. She had no choice but to walk the streets in her hospital gown, drawing odd looks from passersby as if she were a madwoman.
But she didn't care.
All she wanted was to find James and hear his reasons. Whatever it was, as long as he was willing to stay with her, she could forgive him.
She knew her thoughts were pitiful, but isn't that what love does to a person?
She could humble herself to the dust, as long as he chose to stay, her remaining years could still bloom like flowers.
However, what she didn't expect was that when she pushed open the door to her home, she didn't find James but Olivia.
Olivia, dressed in casual clothes, sat on the sofa like a true mistress, with two documents by her side that shocked Lisa.
Marriage certificates.
Lisa was stunned. They... had actually gotten married? But she hadn't agreed to the divorce yet!
"Surprised, aren't you? You should know that with James' capabilities, he doesn't need your consent for anything."
"This is fake... it must be fake..." Lisa was shocked, repeatedly stepping back. "He won't marry you! Because he's married to me! He swore by the side of Love Lake that he would only love me for the rest of his life! Otherwise, may he be struck by lightning and die a terrible death!"
"Lisa, you're really naive," Olivia stood up, her eyes full of disdain. "He married you only to save me. His oath to you was just because he saw you as my substitute. In his heart, you're nothing more than a replacement for me!"
"You're lying! You love James, that's why you're jealous of me. That's why you're saying all these things! These documents are fake! What you're saying is also fake!"
Lisa leaned against the wall, covering her ears, crying out desperately.
As if by doing so, she could turn those facts into illusions.
Olivia stared coldly at her. "If Harry knew how useless his sister, who he tried so hard to help, was, he probably wouldn't rest in peace even after death."
"You have no right to say his name!" Lisa suddenly lunged forward, slapping Olivia's cheek. Her eyes were blurred with tears. "Do you know why my brother insisted on going that day? Because he knew January 2nd was your anniversary, and there were tulips in the neighboring city, your favorite. He took such a big risk just to buy you a bouquet of tulips. And you, you slept with your sister's husband! Can you face him?!"
All the pent-up frustration from these days seemed to burst forth at once. Olivia's gaze finally faltered for a moment, but soon, her anger surged, and she grabbed Lisa's wrist forcefully.
"Why didn't you stop him then? It was pouring rain outside, yet you let him go alone! You can drive too, so why didn't you go with him? Do you know if you had gone that day, the one who should have died would be you!"
Lisa's face turned pale, and her lips trembled. "What... what do you mean? It was you! It was you, wasn't it! You killed my brother!"
Olivia pursed her lips and suddenly chuckled. "It wasn't me who killed your brother. It was you. That day, when the call came, the designated person to go was you. Your brother didn't want you to take risks. Lisa, you killed your brother! And you also pushed James into my arms!"
"Olivia! I'll kill you!"
