Amelia’s POV
Eventually, Amy started to yawn. It was getting late, and Mom and Dad were worried about her not getting any sleep. Dad left for a minute, likely to talk to Damien. When he returned, he insisted on taking Amy back to the Alpha King’s palace to sleep for the night.
“You should come with us,” Mom told me. “There isn’t anything else you can do here right now.”
I knew she was right, but leaving didn’t sit right with me. Even though I wasn’t needed, even though Damien told me to leave, I felt like part of my heart was here.
What if something happened? They might need me. How could I just walk away?
I couldn’t. And there would be nothing I could do to convince myself otherwise.
