Damien’s POV
For the next few weeks, as I continued to travel with Dr. Wyatt, seeing Amelia with some regularity, I felt my nerves slowly starting to calm. I was even sleeping at night with some regularity again. They were dreamless sleeps, a mere passage of time with my eyes closed, but at least I was finally starting to feel rested again.
The pack was benefiting too. The people around me seemed less on edge. Ethan himself seemed more relaxed, putting to question some of what Victoria had said. If Claire had been failing without me, surely Ethan would have brought it up.
No, instead, everything seemed like it was progressing as it should. Amelia even liked the presents I had been bringing her. Seeing her smile again… Gods, there was nothing like it.
