I had braced myself to see Damien again. By now, I should have been somewhat used to seeing him, since he came to every checkup for the baby.
Yet still, each time felt like the first time.
Watching him approach, his slow confident stride, with his eyes locked on me, I was nearly overwhelmed at how very handsome he was.
He had come into my life like a dream, and I still hadn’t fully woken up from it yet.
He stopped right in front of me. “Amelia,” he said, his voice breathy with disbelief. “I wasn’t told you would be here.”
