“Nothing,” Victoria said with some urgency. “I don’t know anything, I swear.”
She said that too quickly for me to believe her, but before I could question her further, Jake of all people came nearer to me.
I immediately straightened, not wanting to convey weakness to my greatest rival, though my heart was still racing like I was running for my life.
