“I ate,” I told him.
“Then let’s go early,” Jake replied. “I’d like to talk to Healer Eve about this myself, as soon as possible.”
A few minutes later, Jake drove Cara and me to the hospital. There, he parked in the garage instead of dropping me off out front, and the three of us walked into the back hallways in search of Healer Eve.
As she was always busy, she wasn’t in her office, but we found her quickly enough simply by waiting and watching. Soon Cara spotted Eve dipping in and out of the patient rooms.
Jake didn’t want to interrupt something so important so we waited for her to finish the rounds. When she did, she started coming back to her office again, and that’s when she spotted us.
