“Don’t worry,” Ruby said when I turned to face her once more. “Damien will be at the celebrations all weekend. You will have your chances to talk to him.”
Under his breath, Jake grumbled, “If we’re lucky, we’ll miss him.”
Damien’s POV
I avoided Amelia while she was speaking with Ruby. I didn’t do more than glance her way. As soon as I did, I saw her self-appointed watchdog Jake glowering at me and thought it better to avoid confrontation for now.
I simply hoped she enjoyed this celebration.
I would seek her out again later, hopefully when she had gotten rid of the unnecessary weight at her side.
