My parents and I had been taking turns going out with Amelia while the others stayed at home to secretly plan the funeral. None of us liked keeping secrets from Amelia, but we were in too deep to turn back now.
I kept reminding myself, this was all for her own sake. If Damien wasn’t responsible for Amelia’s attack, then he would find out who was. Then he could come to the funeral, say his goodbyes, and get out of our lives forever.
With Amelia free of him at last, she could finally start over. She deserved a fresh start, a new life without Damien hold her down.
