“The babies,” I corrected. “Don’t forget about Claire.” I knew I wouldn’t.
“It’s the child he cares for, Amelia,” Dr. Wyatt said. “Not Claire herself.”
I turned away facing the wall.
“I’m sorry, Dr. Wyatt. Please don’t be offended. I’m glad for all you do. But I’d like to be left alone now.”
