“This could be some kind of subterfuge attack from Alpha Jake’s pack,” Dr. Oliver said. “She could be trying to kill our Beta Ethan.”
Now that was entirely too far.
“That’s not possible, doctor,” I said. “Healer Eve is a reputable doctor, and I personally trust Amelia with my life. Both of them have sworn oaths to their profession. There is not a change they came here just to poison Ethan.”
“You put a lot of faith in her,” Dr. Oliver said. “You might be the only one in the pack who does. I’m not alone in feeling how I do, Alpha, and that is something you might want to consider.”
“What do you mean?” I asked sharply. That sounded like a veiled kind of threat.
“A large group of protestors have gathered outside of the hospital,” Dr. Oliver said. “They are peaceful at the moment, but seem
