Chapter Four: Call Me Miss Storm

1221 Words
Ida's POV He never laughed at me, never picked on me and would always smile warmly when our eyes met so that night when my heart was shredded into pieces and a throbbing pain spread through my entire body, I just couldn't fathom why it happened. I couldn't understand why he kissed me and took my breath away, why the boy who made me bless the goddess and for the first time in my life made me feel the beauty of the stars, the peculiarity of the universe and joy in infinity all in my stomach why he'd leave me crawling and bawling my eyes off, humiliated. That night, it rained heavily and I just knelt there, crying in a bid to dampen the pain and not until a car pulled over and drove me back home did I realize that I was losing it but I wasn't ready to let go. What everyone in the pack saw was the defective girl who was partially blind and had speech impairment, they termed me cursed because I was the only one who hadn't got my wolf yet but they didn't know there was more to my identity. So five years later when I stood in that room, dressed elegantly and laughing softly while being surrounded by the most powerful men in existence with the most feared being wrapping his hands around my waist quite possessively, I once again got the feeling of closure. “I believe we have business to tend to.” Aiden said to Kael. Kael nodded his head and politely directed them to a private booth. I was speaking to some of our business associates, yet I could hear and see everything, an ability that was peculiar to Lycans. I could feel Aiden's tension and Gwen couldn't hide her disbelief and shock. “Before we go any further, I need you to know that I don't tend to any business matters without my Ida.” Kael informed them. As it was my cue, I politely excused myself and joined them, I took a seat beside Kael and he poured me some champagne himself, handing over the glass to me. Aiden cleared his throat, getting uncomfortable. “You've been a wonderful host Your Highness but I think it's time we hit the nail on the head and get down to business don't you think?” “Of course.” Kael responded, drily. “You seem to be staring at me, do you have something to say to me Gwen?” I asked, ironically. “Long time no see Ida, you suddenly disappeared and we all thought you're dead or something.” Gwen greeted, sarcastically. “You know each other?” Kael asked, uninterested. “Yes, she's my cousin. How long has it been? Five years?” Gwen replied. “I don't know, I wasn't counting.” I retorted. “How did all this happen? You're a werewolf, technically as you didn't get your wolf when everyone else did and you were blind as a bat and stammering and ugly, I mean, so many things can happen within the space of five years, you even got beautiful, I can only imagine how much he's spent to make-” “You thought I was dead? I'm flattered.” I interrupted her. “It's good to know you're doing fine.” Aiden inputted, his tone softened. “Let's get this over with, I'm busy.” I cynically responded. Gwen cleared her throat, though I ignored her stares and mocking looks. “If I may interrupt, this is strictly business between the two races and frankly speaking, between our pack and yours so it's only right if you are here and your queen, your highness.” She said, suggestively. I snickered softly and took another sip of the champagne. “I don't owe you an explanation, I want Ida to be here, do you have a problem with that?” Kael retorted. I placed my hand on his, calming him down. “No, we don't. It's just unusual as you're known to be professional.” Aiden replied. “Are you implying that he isn't professional? You seem to have a problem with my presence, are you sure you want this deal to be done or you just want me gone?” I countered him. “I'm sorry but I don't care the least about you, I'm here for the welfare of my pack-” “So stick to it.” I interjected. Gwen scoffed. “According to tradition, only the alpha, his Luna, your royal highness and your queen are to sign this pact, it's concerning our packs and its-” “You're one to talk? You're not his mate neither are you a Luna so don't test my patience by pissing me off and just do as you're told!” Kael growled then looked at Aiden. “Tame your woman or I'll be happy to let Ida show you how it's done.” I watched Gwen's facial expression turn sour and Aiden, oh Aiden was so embarrassed and almost spat out blood. So I just leaned back, relaxed and listened to them go over the business deal, proposal and peace treaty while gingerly eating the apple and tangerine Kael lovingly peeled for me. Once in a while, I piped in and made adjustments, making Aiden very uncomfortable and Gwen looked useless. Half an hour later, we wrapped it up and what was left was the official moon scroll which required Kael’s seal and his bloodied thumbprint to seal the peace treaty which he did but added a clause to the agreement. “Ida's thumbprint would be on it as well.” Kael said, authoritatively. “I respect you and your title but she's the-” “I'm not asking Alpha Aiden, it's an order.” Kael shut him up. I punctured my thumb and sealed it with my blood. “This peace treaty and partnership can be severed or called off by a word from her. In other words, she owns everything, she's me.” Kael informed them as they rose to their feet. They were flabbergasted and I could tell that Aiden was holding back from strangling me. “It's nice doing business with you.” Aiden forcefully smiled and shook hands with Kael. He stood before me, staring at me with those same eyes that humiliated and left me writhing in pain for years. “Looking forward to doing business with you.” He said, extending a hand for a handshake. I shook his hand momentarily and smirked. He turned to leave, along with a displeased Gwen but suddenly halted and turned around to face me. “I actually thought you'd hurt yourself after what happened between us that night, it's good to see you're fine Ida.” Aiden said, softly and I could swear that I saw his eyes soften and tender, a smile curled up at the corner of his lips. Kael chuckled softly and drew me into his embrace, kissing me softly yet briefly on the lips. Aiden's expression darkened and his hand curled up in a fist, he began to leave, subtly annoyed. “Aiden!” I called out which attracted his attention. “Call me Miss Storm, we're business partners not old acquaintances or friends.”
