📖 Chapter 2 – First Impressions, First Suspicions

626 Words
The pages of my journal were no longer filled with just observations, but questions too. Each word echoed the doubts swirling inside my mind. It felt like even the school walls were whispering: "Something is wrong here." That night, instead of sleeping, I wrote. As the lines flowed, the mission and reality began to blur. > “Emir Karaca reads poetry, but the meaning is meant for me.” “He silences people with his eyes.” “Nothing in this school is normal.” --- Morning – Eyes on Me The moment I stepped into the school, I felt the stares. This wasn’t just about being the new student. A few students glanced at me as if sensing the resolve in my eyes, and others stopped talking mid-sentence. My instincts as an agent kicked in. > “Who’s acting normal? Who’s pretending?” “Who’s watching me?” The security camera in the hallway corner looked old. But the tiny red light was still blinking. I made a note: > “Security systems active. Who has access to the footage?” --- Class Time – A Gaze That Crosses Lines Emir Karaca entered class late again. As he stepped in, the air shifted. His silence spoke louder than most voices. He didn’t open a book or start a lecture. Instead, he wrote a single line on the board: > “Some silences scream.” The class looked bored. But I… I felt a chill down my spine. While facing the board, he looked at me. As if his eyes weren’t seeing my face—but my soul. Our eyes met for just a second. I don’t know what he saw, but his gaze pierced right through me. I stayed after class. I opened my journal and watched him from the corner of my eye. He was flipping through a book. He clearly knew the pages by heart, but still pretended to read. Was he stalling… on purpose? As he walked to the door, he paused. “Do you ever read your writing out loud?” he asked, without turning. I froze. How did he know I had been writing? I only managed to say, “Sometimes.” He smiled. But his eyes didn’t. --- Lunch Break – The Threat in Silence The cafeteria was crowded as always, but the hum of voices felt unusually flat. Two girls at a nearby table were whispering. > “Did you know? There was a student who argued with Mr. Emir last year…” “What happened?” “She disappeared the next day. They said she transferred schools.” The words hung in the air. No one spoke openly, but everyone knew something. I marked a star in my journal: > “Missing student – must investigate.” --- Vice Principal’s Office – Whispers Not Meant to Be Heard While walking past the administrative hallway, I stopped at a half-open door. > “That new girl…” “Kaya, was it? She’s too observant.” “We don’t know who she really is, but her eyes see too much.” My internal alarm went off. My cover was starting to c***k. --- Evening – All Classrooms Dark, Except One From my window, I looked at the dark silhouette of the school. All the classroom lights were off—except one. Third floor. Room 3-B. Mr. Emir’s classroom. It was 10:15 p.m. The light was still on. I couldn’t see who was inside, but my heart raced. --- Night – Final Journal Note > “Everyone in this school is hiding something. But the most dangerous ones are the ones who disappear into silence.” “And Emir Karaca… I’ve started to figure you out.” “But what
