CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

AMELIA ROSE POV

I was finishing my rounds when I noticed that something seemed different around the hospital.

Several doctors and nurses were gathered together, quietly discussing something.

I looked at Cassandra.

“Do you know what happened?”

She shook her head.

“No, but I've heard that there is a problem with one of the new cancer drugs.”

My eyes widened.

“A cancer drug?”

“Yes. Apparently, a patient became seriously ill after taking it with another cancer medication.”

I became quiet.

That sounded serious.

Before I could ask another question, one of the doctors called for us.

“Amelia, Cassandra, we need you in the medical records department.”

We immediately followed him.

When we arrived, several patient files were spread across a table.

The doctor looked at us seriously.

“We are reviewing the patient's medical history. I need you both to help organize these records.”

“Yes, doctor,” I replied.

I picked up one of the files and began going through it.

The patient's condition had deteriorated after taking two different cancer medications.

I carefully checked the medication records.

Something caught my attention.

I looked at the dates again.

“This doesn't look right.”

Cassandra looked at me.

“What?”

I pointed at the file.

“The medication was recorded twice.”

She looked at it carefully.

“You're right.”

I frowned.

“Maybe it's just a mistake in the records.”

The doctor walked over.

“What did you find?”

I showed him the file.

“There are two entries for the same medication.”

He took the file and examined it.

“Good catch, Amelia.”

I nodded.

He turned to Cassandra.

“Check the original records. We need to know whether this was an error in the system or whether the patient actually received two doses.”

“Yes, doctor.”

We immediately started checking the records.

While we worked, I couldn't stop thinking about the patient.

Someone's life was at risk.

And we needed to know exactly what had happened.

MAXWELL STERLING POV

While Amelia was reviewing the patient's records, I was back in my office looking through the same case.

Ethan had just placed another report on my desk.

“Sir, the medical team has found something interesting.”

I looked up.

“What is it?”

“There may be an error in the patient's medication records.”

I immediately became serious.

“What kind of error?”

“One of the nurses noticed that the same medication appeared twice in the patient's file.”

I stood up.

“Who noticed it?”

“Amelia Rose.”

For a moment, I said nothing.

Of all the people in the hospital, it was Amelia who had noticed something important.

“Bring me the report.”

Ethan handed it to me.

I read through it carefully.

If the patient had received an incorrect dose, then the situation could be very different from what everyone initially thought.

“We need to investigate this properly,” I said.

“Yes, sir.”

I closed the file.

“And make sure nobody changes anything in those records.”

Ethan nodded.

“I'll handle it.”

He walked out.

I remained standing beside my desk.

This case was becoming more complicated by the minute.

And Amelia had just found something that could change everything.
