CHARLOTTE'S POV
I walked into the hospital with my bodyguard beside me.
I was going to visit my father, but something caught my attention.
I saw Amelia standing at the nurses' station with Cassandra.
I immediately frowned.
It was that stupid girl who had bumped into me the other day.
I couldn't understand why she was still working here.
I looked at her for a moment.
Then I noticed someone walking toward us.
It was Maxwell Sterling.
My eyes widened.
Maxwell Sterling was one of the richest and most handsome men in New York.
I had seen him several times before, but I had never had the chance to speak to him properly.
I quickly fixed my hair and adjusted my clothes.
"Wait here," I told my bodyguard.
I walked toward Maxwell.
"Mr. Sterling."
He stopped and looked at me.
"Yes?"
I smiled.
"Hello. I'm Charlotte."
He looked at me without any expression.
"I know who you are."
My smile grew wider.
"My father is the assistant director here."
"I know."
I didn't know what else to say.
I glanced at Amelia, who was still talking to Cassandra.
Then I looked back at Maxwell.
"Are you heading somewhere?"
"Yes."
He walked past me without saying anything else.
My smile disappeared.
How could he just walk away from me like that?
I turned and watched him leave.
Then my eyes went back to Amelia.
Something was definitely going on.
Why had Maxwell been watching her earlier?
I narrowed my eyes.
I decided I needed to find out.

AMELIA ROSE'S POV
After the emergency, I returned to my normal duties.
I was still thinking about Maxwell.
I didn't understand why his simple words kept replaying in my head.
"Good work."
I shook my head.
"Amelia, stop thinking about him."
I continued working.
A few minutes later, Cassandra came over.
"Amelia."
I looked at her.
"Yes?"
"Did you see Charlotte?"
I nodded.
"Yes. She came into the hospital."
Cassandra sighed.
"Just be careful around her."
"Why?"
"You know how she is."
I nodded.
"I'll stay away from her."
"Good."
I smiled.
"I don't want any trouble."
Suddenly, I heard someone call my name.
"Amelia!"
I turned around.
A nurse was standing there.
"The matron wants to see you."
My heart skipped.
"The matron?"
"Yes."
I quickly followed her.
As I walked toward the matron's office, I started wondering what she wanted.
I hoped I hadn't done anything wrong.
I knocked on the door.
"Come in."
I opened the door and stepped inside.
"Good afternoon, ma'am."
The matron looked up at me.
"Good afternoon, Amelia. Sit down."
I sat down.
She looked at me seriously.
"There is something I need to discuss with you."
I swallowed.
"Did I do something wrong?"
She shook her head.
"No. It's actually the opposite."
I looked at her in confusion.
"The hospital received a very good report about your work today."
I smiled slightly.
"Thank you, ma'am."
She nodded.
"You handled the emergency very well."
I felt relieved.
"I was only doing my job."
"And you did it well."
She paused for a moment.
"Keep up the good work, Amelia."
I smiled.
"I will, ma'am."
I stood up and left the office.
As I walked back to the nurses' station, I felt happy.
For the first time since I came to New York, I felt like everything was finally falling into place.
But I didn't know that someone was about to make my life much more complicated.

MAXWELL STERLING'S POV
I was sitting in my office, going through some documents when Ethan walked in.
"Sir, the meeting is ready."
I nodded.
"Let's go."
I stood up and picked up my files.
As we walked toward the conference room, I suddenly saw Amelia.
She was smiling as she spoke to Cassandra.
I stopped for a m
oment.
Ethan looked at me.
"Sir?"
I quickly looked away.
"Nothing. Let's go."
But as I walked away, I couldn't stop myself from looking back at her one more time.
Why was I becoming so interested in this woman?
I had no idea.
