AMELIA ROSE POV
The investigation continued throughout the hospital
But something still didn't feel right to me.
I couldn't forget the patient's condition.
The medication mix-up alone didn't explain everything.
I decided to look at the patient's scan again.
I studied it carefully.
Then I noticed something strange.
I stared at the scan for a few seconds.
“Wait…”
I moved closer.
There was something in the patient's brain that shouldn't have been there.
I quickly called Dr. James.
“Dr. James, please come and look at this.”
He walked over.
“What did you find?”
I pointed at the scan.
“Look here.”
Dr. James examined it carefully.
His expression suddenly became serious.
“You're right.”
Cassandra came closer.
“What is it?”
Dr. James looked at us.
“It looks like the patient was injected with something that caused the brain damage.”
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
“So it wasn't only the medication mix-up?”
“No,” Dr. James replied. “We need to find out exactly what was injected into him.”
I looked at the patient.
“We need to help him.”
Dr. James nodded.
“Prepare the operating room.”
Cassandra immediately rushed to prepare everything.
I followed Dr. James.
We couldn't waste any more time.
DR. JAMES POV
The situation was serious, but there was still hope.
Amelia had noticed something that could save the patient's life.
Cassandra and Amelia prepared everything we needed.
We took the patient into the operating room.
“Let's begin,” I said.
The operation started.
Everyone worked together.
Amelia stayed focused throughout the procedure, carefully assisting me.
Cassandra also did everything she was instructed to do.
Hours passed.
Finally, we were able to remove the substance that was causing the problem.
I checked the patient's condition.
His vital signs were improving.
“He's stable,” I said.
Amelia looked relieved.
“Is he going to be okay?”
“We still need to monitor him, but yes. He's responding well.”
A smile appeared on Amelia's face.
After everything that had happened, seeing the patient's condition improve made all the stress worth it.
AMELIA ROSE POV
When we finally left the operating room, I felt exhausted.
But I was happy.
The patient was alive.
And he was getting better.
Cassandra hugged me.
“We did it!”
I smiled.
“Yes, we did.”
Dr. James smiled at us.
“Good work, both of you.”
I looked back toward the operating room.
Something still bothered me.
Someone had injected the patient with something that nearly killed him.
And now that we knew it wasn't simply the medication mix-up, another question came to my mind.
Who did it?
I didn't know the answer yet.
But I was determined to find out.
And somewhere inside the hospital, the person responsible was already becoming worried.
Because their plan had failed.
