AMELIA ROSE'S POV
I quickly followed the direction the receptionist gave me.
She had told me to take the second elevator because the first elevator was strictly for the CEO.
I looked at the first elevator as I walked past it.
“What an arrogant CEO,” I muttered.
Why would a CEO need a whole elevator for himself?
But that wasn't my business.
I was here to work and make money.
I quickly entered the second elevator and pressed the button for the floor I was going to.
As the elevator went up, I took a deep breath.
I was nervous, but I was also excited.
I really hoped I would get this job.
When the elevator doors opened, I stepped out.
I looked around and was surprised by how beautiful the place was.
Everything looked so clean and organized.
As I stood there looking around, I noticed a young and beautiful girl dressed in a nurse's uniform walking toward me.
She greeted me with a cheerful smile.
“Are you Amelia?”
I smiled and nodded.
“Yes.”
She smiled again.
“I'm Cassandra. The matron asked me to bring you to her. She's in her office. Please, follow me.”
“Okay, thank you.”
I followed Cassandra as we walked down the hallway.
This place was really beautiful.
I couldn't stop looking around.
Everything looked so perfect.
I silently prayed that I would get the job.
I really needed it.
After a short walk, Cassandra stopped in front of an office.
She knocked on the door.
“Come in,” a voice answered.
Cassandra opened the door.
“The nurse you asked for is here,” she said.
The matron looked at me and smiled.
“Come in, Amelia.”
I walked inside.
“Good morning, ma.”
“Good morning. Please, have a seat.”
I sat down.
She looked through my documents and then started asking me some questions.
I answered every question correctly.
I was nervous at first, but as the interview continued, I became more comfortable.
She asked me questions about nursing and my previous experience.
I answered everything as best as I could.
After asking me several questions, she finally put my documents down.
“Alright, Amelia. You can resume tomorrow.”
I almost couldn't believe what I had heard.
“Really?”
She smiled.
“Yes. You can resume tomorrow.”
I smiled widely.
“Thank you so much, ma.”
“You're welcome. Make sure you come early tomorrow.”
“I will.”
I stood up and thanked her again before leaving the office.
I couldn't stop smiling.
Finally!
I had gotten a job.
I was so happy.
After leaving the hospital, I headed home.
I couldn't wait to tell my best friend everything.
As soon as I got home, I picked up my phone and called her.
She was still in Korea.
She answered almost immediately.
“Hello, Amelia!”
“Hey!”
“You sound so happy. What happened?”
I laughed.
“I got the job!”
“What?”
“Yes! I got the job!”
She screamed happily through the phone.
“Oh my God! I'm so happy for you!”
We talked for a while, and I told her everything that had happened that day.
I told her about the hospital.
I told her about the interview.
And, of course, I told her about the handsome stranger I had met earlier.
My best friend immediately started laughing.
“Wait, you said the guy was handsome?”
I laughed.
“Yes, he was very handsome.”
“So you noticed his face even though you were angry with him?”
“Of course I noticed! I'm not blind.”
She laughed again.
“Then I'm going to call him your handsome stranger.”
I shook my head while laughing.
“Fine. Call him whatever you want.”
We continued talking about everything that had happened during my day.
I was happy.
For the first time in a long while, I felt like things were finally starting to work out for me.
I had a new job.
I was going to start working tomorrow.
And maybe, just maybe, my life in New York was finally going to get better.
