EDITH FINCH'S POV
I walked outside, and my driver was already waiting for me.
The moment he saw me, he stepped forward and opened the car door.
"Thank you."
I entered the car, and he closed the door behind me before getting into the driver's seat.
A few seconds later, we drove off.
My first stop was the biggest luxury car company in New York.
I had already decided that I wanted something elegant and powerful, so I was looking forward to seeing what they had available.
When we arrived, my driver pulled up in front of the showroom.
I stepped out of the car and walked inside.
The place was huge.
Luxury cars were displayed everywhere, each one looking more expensive than the last.
I was looking around when suddenly, I noticed someone familiar.
I stopped walking.
"Where have I seen that face before?"
I stared at her for a few seconds.
Then it hit me.
"Oh."
I remembered.
I had seen her at the Sterling Medical anniversary celebration.
She was the woman who had been talking to Maxwell.
My eyes narrowed slightly.
"Well, well..."
What was she doing here?
I watched her from a distance, curious about what had brought her to the same car dealership.
AMELIA'S POV
I finally arrived at the car company.
My heart was practically dancing with excitement.
I couldn't believe I was actually here.
I had saved for so long, and now I was finally going to buy my own car.
I approached one of the salespeople.
"Good morning," I greeted him.
"Good morning, ma'am. How can I help you?"
"I'm looking for a car. Something beautiful, comfortable, and reliable."
He smiled.
"Of course. We have several options that might interest you."
He started showing me around the showroom.
I followed him while looking at the different cars.
"Wow," I whispered.
Everything looked so beautiful.
I was so distracted by the cars that I completely forgot to watch where I was going.
Suddenly—
BAM!
"Ouch!"
I had walked straight into something.
Or rather, someone.
I looked up.
It wasn't a wall.
It was a person!
"Oh my God!"
I stumbled backward, losing my balance.
I was about to hit the floor when a strong pair of arms quickly caught me.
I froze.
For a moment, I couldn't move.
I slowly looked up at the person who had caught me.
Our eyes met.
My heart skipped a beat.
"Oh..."
I didn't know what to say.
The stranger was staring down at me.
And judging from the look on his face, he was just as surprised as I was.
"I'm so sorry," I quickly said.
He didn't let go of me immediately.
Instead, he looked at me carefully before finally helping me regain my balance.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
I nodded quickly.
"Yes. I'm fine."
I glanced at the spot where I had bumped into him.
Then I looked at him again.
"Although I'm starting to think I should stop walking altogether."
The salesperson covered a laugh.
I gave him an embarrassed look.
This was supposed to be my exciting car-buying day.
How had I already managed to embarrass myself?
Little did I know that my clumsiness had just brought me face-to-face with someone who would become very important in my life.
