AMELIA ROSE'S POV
I quickly finished getting ready and grabbed my handbag.
I checked myself in the mirror one last time.
“Today is going to be different,” I said to myself.
I took a deep breath and walked out of my room.
I had my CV with me because I wasn't planning to sit around and wait for the hospital to call me.
I needed a job.
And I needed one badly.
I stepped outside and started walking toward the bus stop.
I was already thinking about the hospital and what I would say if they finally called me for an interview.
Maybe today would be my lucky day.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice someone coming toward me from the opposite direction.
Suddenly—
BAM!
I crashed into someone.
“Oh my God!”
I stumbled backward, and my handbag fell to the ground.
My documents scattered everywhere.
“What the hell?”
I looked up angrily.
A tall man was standing in front of me.
He was wearing black jogging clothes, and earphones were hanging around his neck.
He looked incredibly handsome.
But at that moment, I wasn't interested in how handsome he was.
I was angry.
“You!”
He looked at me with a cold expression.
“What?”
I looked down at my clothes.
There was a stain on my blouse.
My eyes widened.
“You ruined my clothes!”
He glanced at my blouse.
“It was an accident.”
“An accident?”
I couldn't believe him.
“You bumped into me, ruined my clothes, and that's all you have to say?”
He looked at me calmly.
“You were the one who wasn't watching where you were going.”
I stared at him.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
I couldn't believe this man.
Instead of apologizing, he was blaming me.
I bent down and started picking up my documents.
Then I noticed that one of my papers had landed in a puddle.
I picked it up and stared at it.
My face fell.
“Oh no!”
My CV was wet.
I looked at the man.
“This is all your fault!”
He frowned.
“How is your CV my fault?”
“You bumped into me!”
“You were walking while looking at your phone.”
“I wasn't looking at my phone!”
“You clearly were.”
I stood up.
“You know what? Just pay for the damage.”
He stared at me.
“Pay for what?”
“My clothes!”
He looked at my blouse again.
“How much?”
I thought for a moment.
“Fifty dollars.”
He reached into his pocket.
I expected him to argue with me.
Instead, he pulled out his wallet.
He took out some cash and handed it to me.
I looked at the money.
He had given me more than fifty dollars.
I frowned.
“This is too much.”
“Keep it.”
“I don't want your money.”
“You asked me to pay for the damage.”
“Yes, but I didn't ask for this much.”
He looked at me impatiently.
“Then give me the change.”
I stared at him.
“Are you serious?”
“You're the one complaining that it's too much.”
I rolled my eyes.
“Fine.”
I put the money into my handbag.
Then I pointed at him.
“But you should learn how to apologize properly.”
He raised an eyebrow.
“I already apologized.”
“No, you didn't.”
“I said it was an accident.”
“That isn't an apology!”
He stared at me for a few seconds.
Then he sighed.
“I'm sorry.”
I folded my arms.
“Better.”
He looked at me like I was crazy.
I picked up my handbag.
“Next time, watch where you're going.”
He didn't respond.
I turned around and started walking away.
Then I stopped.
I turned back.
“And don't think you can just walk around like you own the whole city because you have money!”
His eyes narrowed.
“What did you just say?”
“You heard me!”
I turned around again.
“Arrogant man.”
I walked away, still mumbling under my breath.
“Who does he think he is?”
I had no idea that the man I had just insulted was Maxwell Sterling.
And I definitely didn't know that I would be seeing him again very soon.

MAXWELL STERLING'S POV
I stood there watching the woman walk away.
I couldn't believe what had just happened.
She had bumped into me.
Then she blamed me.
She demanded money from me.
And after I paid her, she still called me arrogant.
I removed my earphones and sighed.
“What a troublesome woman.”
I had met many people in my life.
People who were afraid to even look into my eyes.
People who carefully chose their words whenever they spoke to me.
But this woman?
She didn't care.
She had looked directly into my eyes and insulted me without hesitation.
I shook my head.
I wasn't going to waste my time thinking about her.
I put my earphones back on and continued my jog.
A few minutes later, my phone started ringing.
I stopped and looked at the screen.
It was my assistant.
I answered the call.
“Sir, the hospital board meeting has been moved to ten o'clock.”
“Fine.”
“There are also some documents waiting for your signature.”
“I'll be there soon.”
I ended the call.
I looked at my watch.
I had to get to the hospital.
I turned around and headed back toward my car.

AMELIA ROSE'S POV
After walking for several minutes, I finally reached the bus stop.
I checked my clothes again.
The stain was still there.
I sighed.
“Great.”
My first job-hunting day was already going badly.
I looked at my wet CV.
I couldn't use it anymore.
Luckily, I had saved another copy on my phone.
I quickly opened it.
“At least I still have one.”
When the bus arrived, I climbed inside.
I found a seat and sat down.
I looked out the window as the bus drove away.
I kept thinking about the strange man I had just met.
He was so arrogant.
I shook my head.
“Forget him, Amelia.”
I had more important things to worry about.
My career.
My future.
And getting a job.
After about thirty minutes, I finally arrived at the hospital.
I stepped off the bus and looked up at the enormous building.
This was the biggest hospital in New York.
And the hospital was owned by the famous billionaire, Maxwell Sterling.
I had heard his name several times before.
Everyone knew him.
But I had never seen him in person.
I took a deep breath.
“Okay, Amelia. You've got this.”
I walked toward the entrance.
As soon as I entered the hospital, I approached the reception desk.
“Excuse me.”
The receptionist looked up.
“Yes?”
“I submitted my CV here a few days ago. I'm here to ask if there has been any update.”
She typed something into her computer.
“What is your name?”
“Amelia Rose.”
She searched through the system.
Then her eyes lit up.
“Actually, Miss Rose, you're in luck.”
My heart started beating faster.
“What do you mean?”
“We received your application, and the nursing department wants to see you.”
I nearly screamed.
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“When?”
She smiled.
“Today.”
I couldn't believe my luck.
Finally!
Something good was happening to me.
“Thank you so much!”
I quickly followed the directions she gave me.
I had no idea that this was only the beginning.
Because somewhere in this same hospital...
The man I had just cursed out was about to walk through the same doors.
And I had no idea that my job interview would bring me face-to-face with him again.
