CHAPTER TWENTY NINE

KAREN POV The next morning, I arrived at the modeling studio earlier than usual. Today was our runway training session, and I was both excited and nervous. Our trainer had already prepared everything for us. There were several clothes hanging behind the stage, and everyone was busy getting ready. I walked over to the clothing rack and looked through the outfits. My eyes immediately landed on the latest Louis Vuitton trousers that had been selected for me. I smiled. I couldn't wait to wear them on the runway. Our trainer walked into the room and clapped her hands. "Everyone, gather around!" We immediately stopped what we were doing. She looked at all of us. "Before we begin the catwalk session, we're going to start with a proper warm-up. I want everyone to walk around the studio first. Keep your backs straight, your heads up, and maintain a confident posture." We all nodded. "Let's go!" We started walking around the room. One by one, we practiced our posture. Our trainer watched us carefully. "Shoulders back!" "Don't look at the floor!" "Keep your chin up!" "Walk naturally!" I tried my best to follow every instruction. After several rounds, we stopped. "Good," she said. "Now we're going to practice the runway." I looked around. Charlotte wasn't there. I wondered why she hadn't come. Maybe she had decided to skip today's training. Honestly, I didn't mind. After everything that happened, I was happy not to see her. I focused on myself. Today wasn't about Charlotte. It was about proving that I belonged on that runway. --- TRAINER'S POV I looked at everyone standing in front of me. "Alright, ladies. Line up!" Everyone quickly formed a straight line. I smiled. "Today is going to be different." They looked at me curiously. "We have someone special joining us today." The room immediately became quiet. I stepped aside. "Please welcome Edith Finch." A beautiful and elegant woman walked into the room. She carried herself with confidence, and the moment she entered, everyone recognized her. Edith Finch was a highly respected name in the fashion industry. The room immediately filled with excitement. Everyone began clapping. I smiled as Edith waved at them. "Thank you." The applause continued for several seconds. Edith looked around the room before her eyes stopped on the models. "I've heard that there are some very talented girls training here." She smiled. "I'm here to see what you can do." Everyone became even more excited. I stepped forward. "Today, Edith will be observing your runway performance." The girls exchanged nervous looks. I continued. "Don't be intimidated. Just give your best." I looked at the first model. "You'll go first." She took a deep breath and stepped forward. Her heels clicked against the floor as she began walking. Edith watched silently. Then it was the next girl's turn. One after another, the models walked. Finally, I called Karen. "Karen, you're next." My heart began beating faster. I took a deep breath and stepped onto the runway. I adjusted my posture. My Louis Vuitton trousers fit perfectly. I lifted my chin and began walking. One step. Then another. I could feel everyone's eyes on me. But this time, I wasn't nervous. I was confident. When I reached the end of the runway, I turned smoothly and walked back. As I passed Edith, she continued watching me carefully. I returned to the line. Edith finally smiled. "Interesting." I looked at her curiously. She walked toward me. "What's your name?" "Karen." She nodded. "Karen, you have something special." My eyes widened. "Thank you." She smiled. "Don't thank me yet. I want to see what you can really do." My heart raced. For the first time, I felt like something good might finally be happening in my life. But I had no idea that Charlotte's absence from the training session was not a coincidence. And somewhere else, Charlotte was already planning her next move.
