GERYON AT HIS WORST

719 Words
It's been a few weeks since Vera's visit. In time, we stopped mentioning her and it was as if she had ceased to exist in our world. That weekend, more precisely Friday and Saturday, we decided to spend with my parents. They loved Nalla, and she loved them too. Mom and she got along perfectly, but it was Dad who fell in love with Nalla at first sight. Probably because he always wanted a daughter. We laughed, enjoyed ourselves, spent time like a real family. I realized that all of a sudden we were all happy. That now even Vera can't spoil our happiness. Although, it was hard for me to be close to Nalla in the presence of my parents. She didn't want to kiss me or hug me as she knew how. She didn't want to sit on my lap, even though I somehow liked it the most. Just and strictly polite. I told Dad we were leaving after dinner. It was Saturday and I really wanted to spend that night with her. During dinner, we talked about her further education. Dad was surprised but also delighted by her desire to enroll in the Faculty of Architecture. Probably because he was an architect himself. Mom was bored. She said that there were a lot of dots, dashes and strange symbols on the blue paper in that business. We decided to walk from theirs to our apartment. It was a beautiful night and I wanted to take a walk around, although I really wanted to feel her under me. The devil himself made me do it. We walked through a dark alley near our building. Unfortunately, I knew that place from a past life. I hurried to Nalla, almost forcing her into a race. I hated that place and the people who go there. Two huge guys appeared in front of us. From the outlines I would say they are much bigger than me, which meant Nalla was in greater danger. They will pass, I thought, they won't cause a fuss. Empty desires. "Hi, girl ..." one spoke. "Join us ..." he said with a sinister laugh. I held Nalla's hand, pulling her slightly behind me, while I pulled the steel knuckles into my other hand in my jacket pocket. The fight is here, I was just waiting to see who would go first. I looked around looking for any place where I could hide the little one. One single garbage container. I looked at her as she squeezed my hand convulsively. "Container. Back against the wall and don't come out until I call you," I said and looked at the boys just in time to see them moving toward me. "Now, Nalla!" I shouted and pushed her away. I greeted the first with a fist in his jaw, disabled momentarily. I didn't see the other bully's fist fly towards me. s**t. It hit me in the nose and I felt the warmth on my face, and a second later the metallic taste of blood in my mouth. I opened my eyes and at that moment my whole world turned red. I inhaled and started hitting him. After the third blow, my hand was bloody. I kept giving him punch after punch. My mind was darkened with incredible rage. He was on the ground and I was still hitting him. Unforgiving. Wherever I managed to put my hand down. "Geryon, you're scaring me!" Nalla's scream made me conscious. She stood next to me and clasped her arms tightly around her. I looked at the bloody mass beneath me and started beating again. "Geryon, that's enough! You're going to kill him!" she grabbed my arm as I swung for another blow. "Come back to me, please." I watched her face as I straightened up. Tears ruined her makeup. She shivered and tightened her grip on her arms. I looked at my hands. They were completely red. I handed them to her without even thinking that she might run away from that scene. But she didn't . She slammed into my chest and hugged me with a force I didn’t know where she was pulling from. "I'll get you dirty ..." I whispered. "We'll wash," she said, staring into my eyes. "Is he ..." "He's alive. I have to call Egon. And take you home."
