PASSING HIGHT

"I am not hungry either. I'm tired, Victor. I died thirty times today. The whole world around me is collapsing, and I can't stop it. "   "Nothing's falling apart, little one."  "Everything is falling apart, prince. Mom and dad who are not mom and dad. Sisters who are not my sisters. A life that doesn't seem to be mine. " Realizing that we would welcome the dawn in the car like this, I went out and opened her door. I picked her up in my arms and ran to the entrance of the building. She laughed for a moment and that gave me back hope. The apartment was unlocked when we arrived, and the whole building smelled of Nona's stew. Real food for the soul. I heard her stomach revolt from hunger. I took her to the kitchen where I found stew on the stove, and the message "watch out, it's hot!" On the fridge. Yes, that's my Nona. Nalla was sitting on a bar stool next to the counter when I dropped a portion of food in front of her. She smiled gratefully, but rummaged through her plate as if she didn't like what was offered.   "Shall I make you something else?" I asked.   "No thanks. I just can't eat. I didn't even sleep last night ... "   "I see. Let's eat and go to bed together. I've noticed for a long time that you don't eat enough. "   "Sorry, I'm eating enough."   "No, you don't eat. And you are still young to be eaten by life. For God's sake, Nalla, I fell asleep last weekend by counting your ribs. "   "How did I not feel?"   "You fell asleep dead. And that's where a wrinkle forms when you dream of something you don't like. ”I showed her the place between her eyebrows. "And it's soft for a kiss."   "Psychopath ..." she laughed. "Let's eat until it's cold."   An hour later, we were in the shower together. Yes, I managed to control myself, although every time I imagined ... I could last these two more months. And then it will be more or less legal.   This was not a night to play some games. We took a shower and dried ourselves without hesitation, and then we went to bed. I loved the nights when she would sleep next to me. Then I knew she was safe and that nothing could happen to her. She's safe in our world.   That night was full of screams that worried me. I knew Nalla dreamed of everything happening to her during the day, but she never had a nightmare that went on indefinitely.   I was thinking how to help her get through everything with as few consequences as possible. I was thinking about how to reconcile her with her parents. A million unanswered questions went through my head.
