Chapter Seven: Aura

1081 Words
My bones started snapping and breaking, it burned my bones. I felt everything changing, I felt like everything in my body was getting broken and the replaced with fire. I hated this, I was silently cursing myself for doing this. The pain seemed to stretch on for hours, finally the pain slowed. I looked down and my hands, they were now paws covered is silver fur. I turned to find my mother’s wolf watching me. I took off running and the speed that Aura had was amazing now I understand. The pain seemed to be dull now that I had felt what my wolf was capable of. She towered over my moms wolf and we ran together enjoying each other’s company. I suddenly got a whiff of something that smelled sweet and I stoped. I sniffed further looking for what smelled so delicious. I found a buck grazing in a field and I started talking it. I paid no attention to my mom or where she was. I pounced in the deer gripping his strong neck in my mouth and twisting quickly. It hardly had a chance of fighting me back before I killed it. The blood in my mouth tasted heavenly I stood there sticking his sweet blood into my mouth. It quenched a thirst I didn’t know I had, like fresh spring water on a hot day. “NO! What are you doing!?!?” My mother’s voice rang in my head. “ I thought we could hunt?” Confused by her yelling. “We can but why are you drinking it’s blood?!?” She was panicking. I really didn’t think about why I was drinking blood. Now that she mentioned it I dropped the deer, she ran over and ripped the throat out. The rest of the blood oozed from it. I stared at it like I was wasting fine wine. “Let’s go!” She called carrying off the deer. We left the deer with some of the servants whose families would enjoy it. We returned to the back yard to shift back. Mom was faster than I. We dressed in silence. I was still confused about why I had been drinking blood. I did feel so much stronger, my human form felt different. She followed me up to our apartment and I could feel how upset she was. I knew she had some questions for me and I had a few for her. “What was that?!?” She yelled as soon as the door was shut. “I-I’m not sure. I picked up an amazing smell and I followed it. Then I found the deer and Aura started stalking it. When I killed the deer it’s blood filled my mouth and it seemed to quench my thirst.” I told her everything. She had been facing the wall when this conversation started. She whirled around to look at me when I said how it quenched my thirst. Her eyes grew larger when she stared at me. The look on her face was creepy honestly. “Go look at yourself,” she whispered. I nodded and walked into the bathroom, I flipped the switch and gasped. My features were more defined, my eyes were brighter, there was a faint pink hue on my cheeks, my lips look fuller and redder. My long hair even looked shinier, it looked like someone had photoshopped me to look perfect. My figure was even a starter hour glass figure, nothing was making sense. Leaving my bathroom to look at my mom, who was sitting at the table. “What’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” I joked. “I have Stormie, I’ve seen it before. You see your fathers death wasn’t normal. When we got attacked before you were born he had been bitten. Normally vampire venom kills a wolf, unless you have royal pure blood. It never bothered your father. At first, we saw him slowly become more attractive but we didn’t even notice the bite mark for days. When we found it we rushed to the hospital, they said there was nothing they could do but, since he was a pure blood the venom might only just alter his DNA. But nothing drastically we change he wouldn’t be dead, or cold, or crave blood. So we went in with our life, soon we found out that we were expecting a baby. We were so happy that we forgot about this DNA being altered. Your father never had any issues and neither did you. Until one day when the Great War began. The wolves and the vampires destroyed each other and everything in their wake. The venom in your fathers blood made him stronger and quicker than the others. But unfortunately he wasn’t quick enough. He died at the hand of several vampires. I don’t know the specifics and I don’t want to. But that’s all I know, and I know that since your wolf woke up it also activated the vampire DNA. You’re different than your father his was all venom yours happens to be a mutation of DNA. But you must not tell a single soul! Never ever drink blood again!” She finished her story. Before I could even ask her questions she was in her room. I had many questions about what I was and who I was. What weaknesses would I face now? Would I forever be alone? What happens if someone finds me out? Will Alpha Leto and his boys let me live or will I die like the other vampires? I wanted so badly to talk to Aura but she was sleeping tired out from our first run. The rest of the weekend was filled with mom and I testing what my weaknesses were. So far nothing, besides the normal wolf stuff. Day light didn’t bother me, nor did crosses or holy water. I seemed to have all of the vampire strengths and none of their weaknesses except for the fact that my wolf has a hard time not craving blood. Something to work on for sure, but I don’t think I would have much of an issue hiding my secret. I had no mate yet that would want to know everything about me and have a million burning questions. Maybe if I have any luck at all I would not find a mate for a few years so I could get my wolf on the same track as me.
