Chapter 2 Prayer or Summoning! The orcs under the city wall were in a neat military formation. An exceptionally tall and lanky orc at the front of the formation, riding a white Frost Giant Wolf with green eyes, slowly took a few steps forward. In one hand, he held a bloodstained, standardized steel blade, and in the other, he clasped the face of a young human male and lifted him up. He looked up at the guards on the wall, his eyes searching for a moment before stopping on Lynn and Byas. A grin appeared, with exposed Morielli fangs. Like he was showing off, and like he was provoking. The young man struggled frantically under him, both hands picking at the huge orcish paw that clasped his face, trying to get out from under him. ''Help .... Help...'' ''Someone... Save me...'' The man's weak voice pouted out of his throat, and just as the words speaking out--- Boom! A dull sound rang out,and Lynn, who was standing up on the city wall, heard it loud and clear. The smile on the orc's face instantly stalled, and his expression became incomparably fierce and vicious! Lynn saw this scene clearly! This orc,to his surprise, crushed the man's head hard! The headless corpse that fell fell into the mouth of the Frost Giant Wolf at his crotch. The giant wolf chewed on the corpse, and the sound of it crunching through the bones made the people on the walls feel their whole body tingle. The orc sniffed the scent of blood that permeated the air, revealing a mesmerized expression before licking clean the fuzzy flesh and blood that remained on his own hand. This horrifying and disgusting scene made some of the young guardsmen on the city wall, their bodies began to froze. ''Those who do not surrender! This is the end!'' The orcs held the steel blade in his hand, the undried blood flowing down the blade, scarlet and piercing. The orcs behind him hissed in unison, and the giant wolves start to growl with a sound that shook the heavens! Lynn's fists clenched, his eyes spewing out flames of anger! Rage! He couldn't wait to kill all over these green-skinned beasts now! ''Follow me!'' Byas watched this coldly, then tapped Lynn on the shoulder and led him down the wall and back towards the palace grounds. ''Father! Where are we going!?'' The orcs were attacking the city, but Byas was not sticking to the front line, Lynn did not know what was going on in his father's mind. ''The Holy Temple!'' Byas looked at the empty road ahead and slightly speeded up. Holy temple? What was the point of going to a place like that? It's such a critical time! You're still thinking of going in to pray and worship! Lynn didn't understand what was going on in Byas' mind, but he knew that his father wouldn't be stupid at such a critical moment. Byas bypassed the main gate of the palace and walked straight towards the holy temple behind the palace. Lynn followed his father's lead and stepped inside the sacred temple. The sunlight refracted in through the glazed windows, and every beam fell on the statue of the burly, robust, bald man holding a huge axe in the middle of the holy temple. This holy and serene atmosphere was as if the inside of the temple was a different world from the outside of the city. Lynn knew who the man in the statue was. Saint Quintus. The legendary god of war,the ancestor of their Saint Quintos clan. The temple had been laid out with all the items used for the ritual, and around the statue,a spell to receive the power of the gods had been drawn with gold dust. It was only then that Lynn understood Byas' idea. He wanted to draw the power of the gods from his ancestors to crush these green-skinned beasts attacking the city. But could this really work? Will the gods answer their calls? The eight Auxiliary Priests began to recite their prayers at the same time, and Linn only felt that the holy temple he was in became more and more noble and holy in this instant. “Great ancestor! Invincible God of War! We praise you for your supreme greatness! Please listen to the devout prayers of your descendants! Mercifully send down your well-being!“ Bayus finished reciting the prayer, raised the silver calabash high above his head, and then bowed three times in reverence. The dull sound of foreheads hitting the floor of the dalai rang out, and after the three kowtows, nothing happened. Byas bowed his head reverently and waited a few moments. Still nothing happened. “Lynn!“ Bayus looked back at his son. If the power of the gods hadn't been bestowed on him, would it have been bestowed on Linn, who also had the bloodline of a descendant of the God of War? Linn shook his head, his body didn't feel any special condition. The blood within the silver marigold did not move either, it was still an eye-catching bright red color, resting quietly within the marigold plate. The gods did not bestow an ounce of his greatness. So tedious a ceremony, no effect. Such pious prayers were not answered in the slightest. In this crisis of life and death, the gods they believed in did not bless them, and the ancestors they worshipped did not favor them. Their last hope was dashed, and it seemed that what awaited them was only the destruction of the city and the death of the people. ''f**k the hell!'' Byas looked at the tall statue and couldn't help cursing, slamming the marquee plate heavily on the ground in anger Every day, he piously sacrificed to this ancestor, but when it came to the critical moment of life and death, he didn't even let out a single fart! ''Your Majesty! Be careful with your words!'' Berks, as one of the eight Auxiliary Priests, anxiously opened his mouth to dissuade Byas. Disrespecting the gods is punishable! Byas was in a rage and was just about to open his mouth to curse when a thunderbolt suddenly fell from the clear sky and exploded right outside the window. After the lightning and thunder, Byas only felt his eyes darken and head in a whirl, then he lost consciousness and fell down. ''The gods have placed a chastisement!'' Burks exclaimed, then hurriedly left the spell to check on Byas' condition. Lynn also walked up quickly. He looked at the statue of Saint Quintus for a moment and grunt. Fortunately, Byas woke up after a few moments, his face still pale. The orcs outside the city had long since lost their patience, and could not wait to launch their assault on the walls. The rudimentary stone throwers were loaded with a huge boulder and continuously bombarded the walls. In the midst of their excited cheers and loud crashing sounds, the old and dilapidated city walls, which were full of cracks, were about to be unable to support themselves. ''The orc attack has begun!'' Byas listened to the huge commotion outside, his eyelids slightly drooping with a look of helplessness and despair. It couldn't be stopped! the Castle of Thorns couldn't withstand the orc attack. Soon, the entire city would be turned into a horrible inferno, and the Castle of Thorns would be wiped from the map of humanity today. Is there any way out? There is no way! They can't hold out on their own! They can't wait for reinforcements! Even the God of Heaven, the last hope of faith, has refused to send down his power to help! The Castle of Thorns! Must perish! ''Your Majesty! There is another way!'' Berks untied his white hooded robe and spoke at this most desperate moment. His cloudy eyes shone with a bit of light. ''Summon the Demon!''
