Fourteen Herbert jammed the van into reverse and pulled into the far corner of Erin’s mother’s car park. It was past midday of the following day, raining a little. He had two rolls ready to go, and after checking they were still in the ashtray, he scanned the car park for customers. Perhaps it was the rain, or perhaps luck was shining on him, but either way there were just two other cars. Then, from the drive, came a truck rumbling in reverse towards the entrance. Herbert got out, slammed the van door shut and pulled the hood up on his jacket, wondering where Felicity and Benjamin might have got to by now.
