Four Benjamin hadn’t come down from his room in the past hour. Within Felicity’s birthday card to Derek had been a letter to him. He took it to his room, yet to return. ‘Something has got to be done,’ Derek said to Herbert across the kitchen table. ‘We’ve got to head off to Italy on the new wheel.’ Herbert shrugged and looked back, unsure of what to say. ‘Shall I make us a spot of lunch?’ was what he went for, and Derek thought about it. ‘And an authentic Italian red to go with it?’ he asked. ‘We’ve got tea bags.’ ‘No, grazie.’ ‘Then I best go up there, but if he’s hiding more speed and typing a fifty-page reply to my sister, then I don’t know what’s to be done.’ ‘Perhaps if he hasn’t had any more secretly, you could try giving him some.
