The confinement of prison was intensely stifling to a young man of his drive and ambition but he endured it stoically. His constant battle against boredom took a turn for the better when he learned that the man in the next cell was proficient in the ancient art of origami, or paper-folding. To while away the long hours Hideo took up the art himself, practicing endlessly on pieces of newspaper obtained from a friendly guard. Origami turned out to be more than just a prison hobby. With the paper under his fingertips he could either set his mind adrift, letting his fingers create on their own, or he could focus his thoughts on a subject with extreme precision.
