I wasn't sure if his number was still in use, but when I heard it ringing, my heart felt like it wanted to burst due to excitement.
"Ortega," a baritone voice spoke in the other line.
I was positive it was Zander.
"Zander, it's me, Diesel," I said.
There was a silence in Zander's line for a brief moment.
"What the! Why are you calling now after years of missing in action, D?" he accused. I could feel hate in his words.
"Sorry. I was busy taking care of the pack. You know Alpha duties," I replied, feeling guilty for not being able to talk to my best friend, especially when he needed support during the most difficult time of his life.
I had found Ruby back then, and the calling of bond was too much for me to ignore.
"Oh, I see. So how was being an Alpha?" Zander replied
