In my wolf form, I scanned a perimeter of about half a mile in each direction surrounding us. There was no sign of Killian or Rijel, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of being followed. I could have smelled them if we were followed. I tried to sniff the air but nothing. I couldn't pick any scent, excluding the scent of the forest. I wasn't sure if that was a good thing. I expected Killian to come after me since he would suffer the effect of pull, but to no avail; he didn't show up. A thought passed through my mind almost as quickly as it had appeared; it was gone. If Killian hasn't found us yet, that could only mean one thing. He's planning something big. Or maybe he knew about our escape plan? Topaz wouldn't sell us out, right? No. That's impossible.
