CHAPTER 10
Early the next morning, Meg dropped by my office. Unexpectedly. I hadn't bargained on seeing her here. Not after last night's altercation at the villa. She hadn't said much but, for my liking, she had nodded in all the wrong places.
Julia brought her a mug of coffee. She waited until we were alone again. "I've just got off the phone with Liz," Meg began. "I was unhappy about the talk last night. That she wasn't there puzzled me. And frankly, I felt confused about Lukas's plans and Mummy's obvious agreement with them."
"So you knew nothing about what they had cooked up between them?"
"Let's say, I suspected something was in the air. Lukas did mention something of the sort, but that he had her support astonished me completely. He always was one for dreaming up crazy schemes. M
