Oliver's POV. “Oh please, grandmother. I am perfectly alright with my life now. I don't need the meddling and there is no way she is out there, it's been years”. It's becoming more annoying now that my only family, my grandmother. They would not stop talking to me about finding my f*****g mate. “It's your twenty-ninth birthday and another year without your mate. How can you strengthen your alpha blood if you don't have a mate bond? I know you are unbothered, but I would like to carry your pup” She said, placing her glasses on the rim of her nose. “I have a girl for that. When I am ready, you will carry your grandchildren”, I said, and got up. I was not ready for her tantrums. “I have some meetings to get to,” I made my way toward the door. “Rick will stay with you today. I know you feel safe around him.” She looked away, not before throwing me a nasty glare. "There you go again, Mrs Calum." “But that gesture of yours does not mean I won't keep talking about your mate until you have found her and brought her into this house.” Tiredly, I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration and sat back on the couch for a minute to hold her hands. “Mrs. Callum, you don't have to worry about my mate. Like I said, it's been years and there is no way she exists, and I have not found her”. I caressed her hands as I spoke. “You are the only alpha in the history of powerful werewolves without a mate. You have to find your mate. You can't be a powerful Alpha without your mate. Beg the moon goddess if you have to” My tricks were obviously not working on her anymore. She was pissed. ''Grandma, have you ever thought that there is a possibility I don't have a mate?'' The thought of that made me optimistic. At least I could be with anyone I deem fit and suitable enough to have my kids with alpha blood flowing through them. “That's not possible. The moon goddess gives every wolf a mate, and I'm sure you have one. You just don't want to find her.'' Finding her was not the issue, she did not exist. I have met with a lot of influential, smart ladies across the globe, and not once have I met her. There was no possible explanation for that, except the fact that she doesn't exist. ''Are you even listening?'' My grandma cut deep through my thoughts. Grunting softly, I stood on my feet one last time and put on my suit jacket. “Well, I have to go.” I mind-linked Rick to let him know he would be staying with my grandma and to let him know that I'd be staying at the club for a while. My driver spotted me walking towards the car and quickly opened the door for me to get in. I gave him a subtle nod. I might be a soft person when it comes to my grandma, but to others, I was seen as a cold-blooded alpha. The drive to the club was smooth and fast. He pulled over in my own parking space, ensuring the media weren't there. Being a young billionaire with chains of businesses to run has its disadvantages and invasion of privacy is one of them. Just as I stepped my foot into the VIP section, a thick scent of delicious vanilla and mint hit my nose. I could feel my heart leaping and, for a moment, I forgot to breathe. “Mate” My wolf jumped happily, causing excitement to surge through me. I didn't want to move, it was finally happening. My eyes moved around as I searched for her amid the club dancers, forgetting about my privacy. My gaze snapped at a figure standing with a tray in her eyes and when my eyes met her eyes, she was already looking at me, as if she knew me. She was the most beautiful and delicate woman I have ever seen. My heart felt awake after so long, and I could only exhale and inhale, trying to maintain a level of calm. She was only wearing shorts, revealing her long legs, and a fitted shirt underneath her apron, but I could see her figure, there was no hiding to that. I involuntarily moved towards her, my wolf chanting “Mate” repeatedly, itching to come out. We both yearned for her but when I got close to her, she was everything I didn't imagine. She was a f*****g human! Why did the moon goddess have to punish me this way? After years of waiting, only to end up with a feeble human as a mate? “Have we met before?” She asked, her voice full of curiosity. “No, a weakling like you is not fit enough to be in my presence” I responded. “Excuse me? You don't have to be so rude.” “What's rude is you being in my face right now,” I gave her a once over, a look of disgust surely marred across my face. “You are the rude one. Has anyone ever taught you how to treat a woman?” She spat with anger and moved away from me. "What a junkhead" the girl I hadn't noticed standing beside her muttered, walking away on my mate's trail. They were probably new, there was no way I wouldn't have remembered a face like hers. I huffed a breath, the urge to break something rearing its head in my guts. Frustrated and annoyed with s**t, I moved back to my cubicle and played the encounter again in my head, trying to find an explanation for this. Did I miss something? Wasn't that her scent. I just could not believe how this could happen. Over my dead body would I accept a mate like her. I have to find her quickly and reject her. I emptied three shots of johnny walker into my throat and made my way to find her. Rejecting her is the only thing right now and it should not pass this night. Even though I have been waiting for my mate for years, this is just not it. I cannot accept this.
