Chapter 2

1494 Words
Soren I look around as I take in the scenic view of my families beach house vacation home. I must've fallen asleep at my desk cause the last thing I remember was cramming for my final that's coming up. Oh well. I walk toward the water to enjoy the peace while it lasts. I thought this would be another dream and her. The girl whose face is always hidden. I catche glimpses from time to time through her long chocolate-colored hair. She has pale blue eyes, so pale they almost look grey. Whenever she appears I'm always chasing after her. Sometimes through the woods, other times through busy malls or city streets. There's always something in the way to get to her. Then, like every dream about her, she's gone right as I get close enough. The tide starts to come in as the small waves hit the shore with more force. I kick a rock into the water as I turn to walk further down when I see her. My legs start moving before I've fully comprehended that she's here. She's really here! And there's nothing in my way this time. Her face is turned up toward the sky and her eyes are closed. "Hey!" I call out and she jumps. She really heard me too! She's never heard me before! I'm still too far away to really see her face, but I know she's beautiful. My twin flame would be nothing but perception in my eyes. A smile spreads across my face as I get closer, but everything suddenly feels different. The water is falling away into nothing in the distance, same with the sand. Fuck! Not yet! "Wait!" I yelled out to her as I push myself to run even faster. "Please don't get yet!" Her brow furrows as I'm just close enough to make out small details. There are tears in her eyes as well. She's confused about everything going on. She's not a Legion. She's human. "I'm sorry!" She chokes out, and the pain in her voice breaks my heart. Just before the sand falls from under her I push into her mind. I'll only get about a minute or so with The Lessening going on, but that's enough time. It has to be enough time to before I'm pushed out of her head. I'll have one minute to learn anything about her that I can about her through her own eyes, and maybe I can find her. The moment I enter her mind though, it's numbing. All I feel is pain, physically and mentally. Her body slams into a wall and falls to the floor. Some man is standing over her screaming about the kitchen being dirty and he kicks her back into the wall when she tries to get up. This time she just lies there. My heart is pounding and my mind is going through every way possible to kill this man. He turns to leave and I focus on his voice as his lips move. "f*****g useless, just like your mother." The door slams shut and my mind is being pulled back as I hear her whisper. "Happy f*****g birthday to me." ~ I jerk awake, immediately standing from my desk as my heart still races. "No! f**k!" I scream as I run my hands through my hair in frustration. My desk is thrown across the room and I watch it practically explode on impact and dent the wall. My father flings the door open, slamming it against the wall as he takes in the sight of my room with wide eyes. "What the hell are you doing?!" He yells. I start to pace and continue to run my hands through my hair and down my face, trying to calm myself down. "Soren!" "She heard me!" I blurt out. Dad's brows furrowed and he looks at me like I'm crazy. I hadn't told him about the dreams or about the girls. Flames usually only get one or two dreams to find each other because they're always from another clan. Sometimes, very rarely, your flame is a human. I've been dreaming of her for months, but I never said anything. I wanted to be sure. "Who heard you? What are you talking about? No one is here!" "On the beach, in my dream! Right before everything went to s**t, she heard me. We have to find her, dad. She needs our help!" I take a deep breath, having rushed it all out so quickly. My fathers eyes widen as realization hits him. "How long have you seen her? Do you recognize her? What family is she from?" He fires off question after question at me. I just shake my head and continue to pace. "She's human." I explain, looking my father in the eye. "She didn't seem happy or excited to see me like you said, just confused. But I know she could feel it. I know she could. She started to cry and said she was sorry right before she woke up." Rage fills me again as I remember the incident all over again in my head. My fists clench at my sides and I stare at a solid point on the floor to focus. My eyes squeeze shut to stop the tears that are threatening to spill over."I-I pushed into her mind before she fully woke up." I say, dragging in a deep breath. "Dad it's bad. So, so bad. We need to find her, please." I plead with him, the tears finally winning as they start to fall. "Oh Soren." He whispers as he makes his way to me, stepping over the debris. He ushers me over to the bed and we both take a seat. "I want you to show me what happened. Let me see so I can do my best to help. But son," I look up at him to see hope in his eyes. "You will see her again. If she heard you she's ready, she's become of age. You'll have another dream with her soon." Dad gives my shoulder an assuring squeeze. "Now, show me." Taking a deep breath, I place my hands on either side of my father's head. "You'll feel everything she felt, just as I did. Just... prepare yourself. It's painful." Dad nods and closes his eyes, relaxing himself before he nods again to let me know he's ready. I open my mind to him and relive the moment with him. Feeling her pain again shatters my heart all over again. When it's over dad looks just as upset as me. "Oh that poor girl. What a terrifying life she must live." He mumbles. I just not in agreement. "Well I can tell she must be strong. She acted as if that was a regular occurrence." His disgust at the man, presumably her father, is very obvious. "No man who could treat his own child in such a way should never have the right to raise children!" I lean forward resting my elbows on my knees and my face in my hands. "What am I gonna do, dad?" I whisper as tears silently stream down my face. "I didn't even get her name." "I did." My head snaps up and my eyes widen as I stare at him in disbelief. "What? How?!" "I was paying attention to more than just her pain. This may be your power alone, but don't forget who taught you to control it." He grins with amusement. I just roll my eyes and scoff. "Yeah, yeah. I get it. so what did you see? I ask impatiently. Dad shrugs. Her laptop was on. It was locked, but the username was clear enough." He paused for a moment looking lost in thought. "Ophelia is a beautiful name. She will make us string again." Ophelia. It is a beautiful name. "So when should I see her again?" I ask hastily. I need to make sure she's okay and get her away from the man who so carelessly threw her around. "Could be tonight, could be a week from now. Since your bond is in place it should be more often." I nod as I listen, wishing I could just go back to sleep and see her again now. "I know it's going to be hard for a while, but I promise I will help however I am able to." He glances around my room at the mess. "I'll send someone to clean this up. Don't forget we're still leaving in a few days. Get packing." "Thank you, dad. I'll be ready. I wouldn't miss this trip for anything." I smirk, knowing I'll have a chance to f**k with Ezra again. He shakes his head, chuckling as he walks out of my room. I lie back on my bed and close my eyes, trying to piece her face together again from the numerous dreams I've had of her. I'll find you. I know I will.
